Friends...I'm broken-souled to tell you that the spaniel took a turn for the worse today, and that we had to let her go. She was the sweetest dog I've ever known. She came to us just before covid, & has been my constant companion for five years. You know her as the spaniel, but her name was Freya.

A small liver and white brittany puppy sitting on a green field with a blue leash. She is very small. This was the first day I had her. A small liver and white brittany puppy in the arms of an eel historian. He is blowing in her snoot, and she is looking up at him. Every time I came in the house from being out I had to pick her up. This continued throughout her life. A liver and white brittany in the snow, looking intently at something off to your left. She is wearing a red collar, and her ears are magnificent. A black and white picture of a brittany in profile. She is looking to your right. The fur on her ears falls like a springtime cascade, and her eyes are deep and kind. Her nose shines softly. The background is blurred, because the spaniel is all that matters.

Thank you. I really appreciate your kind words. She was a lovely girl, and she did love her butter. My 11 yr old has long believed in spirit dogs; that when your dog dies it's spirit stays with you, and so over the course of your life you slowly accrue a pack of spirit dogs. I like that thought.
