It should be clear to everyone that the Democratic Party is a pro-genocide party. Biden self declared a Zionist. Filled his office with Zionists. The party has just 19% approval. The party of genocide is a dying party.

Going independent and doing just that. I would vote for AOC or other candidates that reject PAC money and pledge to create a new law to overturn Citizens United. Trump is just a tool. It's the Republicans and their well funded religious extremists that need to go.

Good that arms ban was voted down, because it's the same brain-dead politics as "defund the police." Instead: 1. Immediate and permanent ceasefire 2. Flooding #Gaza with aid 3. Recognition of a Palestinian state 4. Ending Israeli West Bank settlements 5. Support for ICC and ICJ

And UN Peacekeepers to enforce the rule of law for both states until they have both demonstrated a Commitment to peace and respecting the other state. Netanyahu is evil. Both Gazans and Israelis deserve to live in peace.

Unfortunately, I don't think UN peacekeepers are a good option given their limitations. I lean toward a multinational Arab force with sufficient firepower to stop the Israelis mowing the grass.

A number of Arab states are prepared to normalize relations with Israel given an acceptable Palestinian peace agreement. The stumbling block is the creation of an independent Palestinian state, so it would likely take a multi-step process.

Israel has no incentive to agree to a ceasefire as long as the United States arms it, and by voting not to advocate cutting off the flow of weapons, the Democratic Party has made itself an accessory to an ethnic-cleansing campaign.

With respect, that kind of virtue signaling would be meaningless, and would hand a potent weapon to the GOP. What works is quiet presidential leverage, e.g. responsiblestatecraft.org/2021/05/24/r...

Quadling @quadling.bsky.social

While I agree that rational diplomacy is preferable to precipitous action, we're at best three years away from having someone capable of exerting "quiet presidential leverage." By then, a Palestinian state may be little more than a memory. And it is by no means clear this issue is a GOP winner.

1. using what leverage? 2. israel keeps blocking aid. 3. Israel will never go for that 4. Or that 5. or that we can't do ANY of those things unless we stop sending Israel weapons which is what will bring them to the table. Also, I'm going to assume you don't understand "defund the police"

Defunding aid to Israel is quantifiable and has an immediate effect. Calling for ceasefire but keep funding? Funding Israel to kill innocents while flooding Gaza with aid? Make up your mind! Recognizing a Palestinian state doesn't stop the flow of death in Palestine. More dead innocents there too.

A meaningless DNC resolution to stop aid to Israel would not only be ineffective but a disaster for Democrats, like "defund the police." On the other hand, presidential leverage could have a real effect.

When our son was a HS Senior, he went to a Dem primary event to speak up for a young, vibrant, candidate with a proven track record. His opponent was in his mid-late 70's. The party elders endorsed the old Dem, then asked my son if he would help rally the youth vote. He's never forgotten it.
