So let billionaires go elsewhere. They wouldn't be billionaires if they weren't in a city like New York. Let them go to those parasitic Red States

Billionaires aren't like us. They don't "live in New York." They have a condo in New York, maybe a second home upstate, a cabin in Aspen, a Beverly Hills mansion, a villa in Tuscany, etc etc. They are rootless, and either jet or yacht around wherever whim takes them. They have no ties to anywhere.
Really. LMAO
They operate businesses out of New York which is why they're subject to the tax laws of New York. No one said anything about where they live. Thanks for the enlightenment though, lol
Trust me. They would be beyond miserable in a red state.
lol no kidding go to Nashville or whatever
Exactly. They are billionaires because they are in NYC, not the other way around.
💯
How many billionaires live in Mississippi? Or Alabama? I would think there's probably more billionaires in a five block radius in New York City than most states that are Republican run.
I don’t want them in Atlanta. They can go wherever else
God forbid they pay to support the community they fucking live in! They want to take all the benefits from the big cities and not contribute a fair share. So tired of these leeches who profit off working people's labor and still want to grind us all to dust so they can buy another private jet.
Thank you! That's my point
The only billionaire I know who left NYC was Trump because he was evading prosecution.
🎯
They warned her the billionaires would move elsewhere, like Austin. She should have said, “Good. Maybe they can buy the luxury real estate being sold by fleeing Silicon Valley fat cats who thought the same a few years earlier.”

The circle of rich tech life continues.
Let Texas have them.
They threaten to, and some do, and all regret it or chicken out. As someone from MO can tell you, red states aren't far off from 3rd world countries. There's a reason every place he listed is deeply blue.
Yeah, my son lives in Missouri and hates it.
It's pretty typical of the ultra-wealthy that they want to live someplace with red voter taxation but which has blue voter amenities.
As a native Missourian who escaped almost 30 years ago, but returned many times over the years to visit trapped unchosen family, I can confirm its devolution to one of the worst places in the country. There are some lovely people there no doubt, and to those I say, abandon hope for MO and leave.
Trying
We need to throw out the politicians who overturn the voters decisions.
As a former Iowan, same.
It took me 3 years working in Missouri to save the 1200 I needed to move to Colorado's economy from Missouri and then I was able to save 3000 in 6 months working a seasonal Colorado min wage job. People I knew in Missouri acted like this info was heresy
Why did they consider it heresy? Also - pretty impressive. I should acknowledge that my ability to move out here and establish a life was b/c I started my career in the 90s, was able to buy home before crisis & only responsible for me. My rent did double from $300 - $600/mo when I moved here (!!!)
Just was this general misguided work-ethic pride where I came from. It wasnt welcome dialogue to think our labor was worth more than our bosses were willing to pay. Talking about some other state that gave the freedom to save more check to check than ours was seen as biting the hand that feeds
Ah yes, very familiar with that - they're actually offended that you even *imagined* your life could be anything other than what it was. Fortunately in a couple weeks I will have officially lived more than half my life in Colorado than Missouri, and that will feel like a real milestone.
I feel like my original comment was pretty flippant - many would move if they had means to, I'm sure. Still though, if I was in same position now, I'd do whatever I had to, to get the fuck out. Even when I left it felt like matter of life & death for me, could see direction the state was headed in.
As a native Missourian who escaped this week, can confirm.
Native Ohioan who has some friends who ended up in MO and the shit they say is going on there…yikes Ohio working to catch up of course
You can probably hear the banjo music from there.
You mean the instrument that traveled here from Africa with enslaved people that was co-opted by white country artists as a white instrument with the start of the record labels marketing “genres?” The banjo is innocent!
Missouri politicians are not.
Nope
It’s a real shit show.
Same. I left Ohio 15 years ago bc of the direction the state was heading and it's only gotten worse. Like they looked at the worst parts of WV, Indiana and Kentucky and thought - let's do that here.
Drove thru Ohio on my way out and uh...yikes
Just visited myself.. same sentiment!
I've lived in Ohio for 40+ years. It's gotten worse. I'm leaving it in November. Republicans just censored our professors with SB1, not to mention they're EXTREMELY corrupt (IE: first energy). I could go on, but it's more that I'm leaving red "values" behind. Fuck immoral stupidity.
The current legislature is … 😨 Good luck with wherever you are moving to
I am genuinely happy and relieved for you, and no matter where you landed, am certain you're seeing fewer billboards. Although clearly a lesser crime perpetrated against Missourians, the cancer of bboards every-fucking-where is still jarring, esp coming from CO - they are almost non-existent here.
"Save mommy *and* baby..." "Jesus Saves!" "Antique Store 5 Miles" "Jesus Loves!" "Adult Boutique, Exit 23" "REPENT!"
Add in the dispensaries and liquor stores, now. The two main economic drivers of the state!
Don't forget about kratom and "riverboat" gambling.
Not been back in about 3 yrs, do they still have billboards mentioning kratom everywhere? Seems like I saw them all over the place last time I was there ... it's likely I only saw 2 but it was jarring enough to where I remember them as "everywhere"...
I think I remember seeing Kratom ones still up.
