Okay, but hear me out (as a Corrie fan). I kind of like the slice of life stuff. It makes it feel more real. *That said*, I know EastEnders fans historically don't like it when stuff gets too real or too silly (I believe an EP lost his job over a story about rubbish bins).

Are we talking about Joel or about Julie's chicken run?

Julie's chicken run, lol. Yeah, the Joel stuff is harder to watch because the parents are so stupid and enabling.

I don’t mind realistic stories but this one has been a mess. And it’s just part of the greater mess the show has become in a few short months

I like realistic slice of life stories when the plot is engaging and true to character. As always, soap plots should be, in some way, about love.

Yes. And character driven. I think part of the disconnect is Joel being a new character. If they started this story with Tommy discovering red pill podcasts I think it would have better entry point to the story for the audience.

Tommy needs to be saved, otherwise what's the point?

Sharon not being there is also a problem. This should be Vicky's story as the woman torn between love for her man and the horrible actions of his son. Wouldn't be surprised if eventually we see father and son aren't that different.

Sharon not being there has been a huge problem, but maybe it wouldn't have gone so far if she was there.

I totally agree with you about Sharon. And yes to Vicky. And you make another good point because there’s somewhat a lack of character pov

EE is always best for me when the strong women are the center of the story, even if they haven't found their strength. This should be the story to make Vicky an iconic EE matriarch.

Okay, but on that note, we have some nice Nicola-Cindy-Elaine messes. And Suki is back on brand as the wicked witch of the EastEnd, so some things are going as they should!
