Also, for a person with a tiny bit of programming experience, I think it'd be better to *start* with typst.
Definitely. Typst's sane syntax is a massive boost.
Seems worth considering. At least when there is a package in the stable branches of all the distros I use. LaTeX is syable and available everywhere, which adds to usefulness as a tool that needs some investment (read: become fluent in using it). typst major mode in Emacs would be nice too.
