Rowan’s middle and high schools have not had lockers. Kids just schlep everything around with them. Honestly it is probably a lot easier in some ways.

My kids have lockers assigned but neither has ever used them. Too far from some classrooms/not enough time between classes to be used

Yep. My kids only have 3 minutes between classes. And the high school campus is huge, there would be no way get to/from to your locker in time.

Three?! I don’t remember what the timing at the girls’ school was, but that seems like not nearly enough time!

Hannah's MS just went from 3 to 4 minutes between classes. It is nuts.

I remember 7 minutes but don’t recall if that was MS or HS. I did a career day at a MS and barely made it back after using the faculty bathroom right around the corner. I can’t imagine a cross-campus trek and needing water or a longer bathroom break.

Fortunately they don't have far to go between classes but if you've got to change a tampon or something you're on the clock.

All I can think of as a middle school teacher is how much trouble some kids would get into in 7 minutes 🫣 Our passing periods are 4 minutes and it seems about right, but the school is not especially huge.

Lol, this is very true. Hannah was in the no tardy club last year, so I guess three minutes was enough for her, but she is also an adult in a child's body and extremely good at executive function and time management. I'm a little worried about E making it on time but I guess we will see!

I can't even tell you how much time they have (they've changed the daily HS schedule every year I've had a kid there), but the school is huge.

I found out the passing time this year is 4 minutes. 1500 kids, 4 floors, 125 classrooms. There is zero time to stop at a locker!

We have 980 kids but I feel like our building is relatively compact.

MS we had lockers but didn't really go to them except before/after lunch. HS We had about 1200 across 2 very spread out floors. 4 minutes between classes. Did not really go to them between each class unless they were on the way.

MS was super wide lockers you shared with someone (combination) HS was key locks which I think they had just to make constant money on the $5 replacement keys. (There were only like 25 different keys for all the lockers so it was not tight security)

Oops, my bad. Our middle school has 3 minutes, the high school has 6. You can tell I’m really on top of my kids’ school schedules. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

None of my kids have used lockers, even when they were available. Our middle school is on a temporary campus for 2y & they didn’t even bother to put them in.
