My kid’s school has been putting up fencing over the summer so that randos can’t walk through campus. I hate it. It looks like a prison. I hate that this is what schools have to do instead of we as a society just deciding to melt all the fucking guns.
Our district has been doing that over the past year or two. Our school was last because it's become the rich school in the past 20 years and they wanted to avoid the appearance of favoring us. On the bright side, I think it will keep all but the most determined cougars out? 🙃
Our high school did this recently too. Heavy sigh.
Our superintendent sent an email last night & I keep coming back to this line: “And in the absence of anything resembling serious or sustained political commitments or efforts to mitigate these now common occurrences, we pledge to continue…”. Heavier sigh.
