Polish people and other Western Slavs in the US were extended "conditional whiteness", like the Irish before them, then more or less fully assimilated. It moves from from exclusion and violence to "mere" discrimination and mockery and then finally to approximately "full whiteness". The US is weird

I think that's still better than the UK holding on to this hatred forever and using that as an excuse to leave the EU.
