I'm using it for some programming stuff lately, and I find myself wishing it would give me a lot more push back. Of course I'm brilliant, as it keeps telling me (protests too much), but I do come up with bad approaches every now and then, and I'd like a little honest feedback on those.

Yeah trying to learn to code with Cursor was eye-opening, like a reverse Dunning-Krueger. I had to start adding to the prompts "you'll also be training a new coder for this", cuz if I tell it *I'm* the new coder it won't second guess me even when I'm sure to make mistakes.

I find the openAI models to be more annoying in this regard than the Claude and Gemini models. I put something similar in cursorrules, but it is sort of hit or miss whether the models pay attention.
