Many things that science can’t explain. Big bang theory was adopted by the masses along with the age of the universe. Now the James Webb Telescope has both of theories folding like a cheap lawn chair. Religion is a belief in something. It promotes a good model to follow. Nothing wrong with that.

It’s pretty self explanatory. Religion provides structure, rules, and models to follow. Not sure how that is a bad thing.

That’s good for people who thrive on structure (some don’t) *if* it’s done in a supportive, rather than threatening or power-hungry, sort of way. Too often, the model provided by religion is more judgmental and rigid than encouraging and helpful.
All humans thrive under structure. Doesn’t have to be religious. But we are biologically driven by structure. There can be too much structure. But just like in all aspects of life too much of anything is generally no good. All societies will always have bad actors, including religious societies.

You live in a country that has laws, eating habits, education, work, sleeping habits, etc are all forms structure. Just b/c you don’t think you need it, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. Some people need more others don’t. There are plenty of different forms of structure, some good some bad.
None of that means that structure imposed by religion is necessarily- indeed ever - good.
Hence is why I said “doesn’t have to be religious.” Structure imposed by religion is can be good and vice versa. It depends on what kind of structure is being imposed. And Just because you disagree with it doesn’t mean your opinion is right or wrong.

1. For some people, a little structure goes along way. For others a lot works better. 2. The failings of religion are common enough in all religions over time that you can’t just wave it away as a few bad actors. Right now in a lot of countries, the bad actors outnumbered the good ones.
#2 is kind of correct. But think in the context of those acting on behalf of their religion and those who are simply bad actors. Are the religious teachings bad or are the people bad? I
Every religion basically suppresses women. I'll pass on that. My man saw me as equal and we were both Catholic at one time. We both had our reasons. I fell out of just believing there's an actual entity. Leaned towards evolution, and John has never said why, and I never asked. And I won't.
