I keep thinking of the many situations that a giant ball isn’t a seat. Any steadiness issues or ADA needs? Not a seat. Needing to feed a baby? Not a seat. Wanting to actually take a load off on a hot summer day instead of balance on concrete? Not a seat.
Yeah no kidding, same with those bars underneath a bunch of the bus “shelters”
i live with chronic back pain and nothing beats leaving a long day at the office, walking the 1/2 mile to the bus stop and then leaning against a waist high bar while i wait for the 52 to navigate broadway 😵💫
At some point someone referred to these as a spot to hitch your horses and honestly that’s much more appropriate than referring to it as any type of bench.

These also don’t do that great of a job sheltering you from the rain. What they do a great job of in a rainstorm is trapping you so you can’t get away from a motorist hitting a puddle right in front of the bus stop and soaking you.
YES I have not experienced but witnessed this happen soo many times. Also, I have heard the shelters are basically a greenhouse boiling people in there on the hottest days.
