Too bad not affordable for the majority unless single or double top plate.

Said the guy about CD players in 1987 or whatever.
Well to be clear no new stove of any fuel is affordable but induction even more unaffordable though some rebates coming here in MI to help. We are getting the word out but let’s all be honest.
Induction is very popular in Europe as they save on energy use, your long term costs may be lower. The popularity also affects appliance prices there, if you can’t switch sorry but anyone who can will help drive down prices.
Many people who are income qualified need funding support and assistance.
I don’t know what your state offers but Massachusetts has a ton of assistance, low income specific and average, for upgrading appliances in general to save energy in addition to specific ones for induction switching from gas.
Just IRA home energy rebates. Otherwise nothing for the stoves. It dose not save enough energy to make it and fuel switch rebates are forbidden.
Single or double plate is a pretty good and affordable solution, though. You can even combine it with balcony solar and not have to pay for cooking fuel for the next 20 years or so.
