Please don't include pictures of Fidel Castro in your dastardly dictators compilations. He was vilified and attacked by America since his overthrow of the Batista oligarchy. He won a legitimate revolution against the regime and attempted to redistribute the wealth to Cubans. America didn't like that
I see, he terrorized Cubans for decades because CIA told him so.
I believe the CIA and the US government meddled in Cuba after the revolution to the point that Castro was forced to take protective measures. A lot of people with connections to the Batista mafia were imprisoned for sure. Oligarchs in America supported oligarchs in Cuba. We tried to overthrow Castro
Who knows, post-revolutionary radicalization is well researched, the scholars give different answers.
I don't know much about Fidel Castro other than my mom was a tourist in Cuba when the revolution started and she and my aunt had to evacuate under cover. I also don't understand why families shipped their kids away never to see them again due to Castro if he was good for Cuba...
I guess I have to study Cuban history to understand how Castro could be a good guy when so many people tried to escape his regime
Batista controlled Cuba for so long that if you wanted to make a living you had to be part of his Mafia. When Castro and Che Guevara brought their rag tag army out of the mountains the peasants united enmass behind them and they defeated his army. In war those on the losing side are usually punished
youtu.be/wFm0MoRtXmg?... Eerily familiar then. And history rhymes, once again.
Interesting episode depicting Castro as a paranoid madman at a time when the US government was doing everything it could to destroy Castro's revolution that took away the wealth of the Batista's. Then we created the network for an actual invasion from Florida that failed horribly. CIA up to no good.
I believe many fled Bautista when he came into power as well. I suppose it has to do with who will be oppressed, or at least disadvantaged, by a new regime.
REGIMES ARE ALWAYS BAD.
Regime is just a word used for any government you don't like. Like the fascist Trump regime, or the genocidal Netanyahu regime. Others would call the same governments "friends and allies". Depends on whether you are aligned with them. Castro was a regime to the US, but the USA was a regime to Cuba.
Same way, whether someone is a "terrorist" according to the US depends on whether they are currently serving American interests. Israeli colonists murdering Palestinian civilians, 'not terrorism'. Bin Laden attacking Soviets with help of CIA, not terrorism. Bin Laden attacking Americans, terrorism.
I dont know, Castro was both a liberator and oppressor, depending on whose story you listen to. His revolution did bring real social progress albeit at the cost of political freedom and economic isolation. But I’d say well intended at times. Easy to look back but he couldn’t predict the future.
Perhaps but he was also in the epstein files
