But let me put it this way, I can have a lot of academic experience and study of say, Black culture in America but if I haven't actually listened, that knowledge is going to be very basic. You can know about sex and gender but that's never going to tell you how other people live qualitatively

This is going to read wrong lol the tone I had in my head when I typed it will not come across. That is another problem I have. I am not used to the lack of tone issue, and I don't seem to have as much trouble reading others as they do reading me
