How about we just agree that America has racist history and many people in power today are still racist? There are injustices facing people of color today because of our past and we haven't gotten even close to equality / a fair standing in life regardless of color.

Correct. My approach was wrong. I didn't intend to say we weren't a racist society, I only MEANT (I did this poorly) to say that we need to grow our tent and solve these issues, which usually comes in the form of class-based aid.

We have an extremely racist (and sexist/misogynist) present. People are facing injustices today because of our present, not just our past. The structures that enforce straight white male supremacy are not "in the past" but still here, every single day. The election of Trump proves all of that.

It's not the past though. It's the present still. All white people are still to this day, racist. Because racism/white supremacy is systemic. Not all whites are prejudiced, but all whites are racist until we dismantle white supremacy. We are actively harming non-white people daily by not doing so.
