The fact that the government already has all relevant data is part of the reason why im a supporter of the idea to have a central government base with all your information.

Not only would administrative tasks get more efficient and its fairly easy to grant access only to the data they are permitted to use, but also if a company needs to know if your old enough to access a piece of media they could simply send a request to the database for your age range.

the response could simply be a yes or no when they ask if your an adult so they dont even need to know your actual age other then if its enough or not.

the only concern is how the internet identity would be tied to the real identity because you would have to give the company some piece of information that can be used to know for whos age they need to ask.
