My 98 yr old Dad had just gotten his hair cut in the hospital. I love this picture of him. Just had to post it. He is such a kind man. I want him to live forever. I am so thankful he (and my Mom) taught me to love everybody and that everyone was created equal.

I lost my dad a few years back. In fact last time I saw him (I loved to USA, he lived back in Sweden) when he came over for my 50th as a surprise. A month before COVID hit. I was just 2 months into a new job. I hope your dad lives a long life. And that you get the cherish it that much longer.
Oh wow. That had to be so hard to be so far from your Dad. What a nice surprise he came to visit. To think that if it had been just a month later that he wanted to come, he probably never would have been able to visit since everything pretty much shut down when Covid hit.
Yeah it was...a strange sense of fate. I am glad that I had a chance to see him. My sister and my nephew came too. It was strange since I had no idea and so early in my new job I couldn't take any time off. But I loved every minute of it eventho he felt like I was ignoring him.
That was good your sister & nephew came too at least to keep him occupied. My parents were the same way, I primarily "work from home" so when I would go home to visit they didn't understand I still had to work. But it would have been worse for you w/a new job & since your Dad lived so far away!

You’re so right, I took my dad for granted, not really appreciating what he did for me or said to me. Then he became ill and I was privileged to be his carer and our relationship took on a whole new dimension. When he died I was devastated. There was so much left unsaid.
I did that as well. I didn't realize I was doing it until after my Mom passed a little over a year ago. Being a parents caretaker is HARD work. And does take on a whole new dimension. All pride is out the door. There becomes a closeness like no other. Yet like you said, so much left unsaid too.

My late father would have been jealous of your dad's head of hair. My dad started losing his when he was in his early 20s. The only long hair he had was his combover. A sensible hairdresser gave it the Adios before my dad could object. It forced him to accept his baldness. We still chuckle about it
