I kinda understand the antivax people cuz vaccines are counterintuitive and require some empathy once understood. Supply chains are kinda similar in that they're invisible. Even if you know about one supply chain, it's hard to wrap your head around how it's everything all around us.

A vaccine is the only thing that stopped the white plague. It caused between 1 in 4 and 1 in 7 deaths, just in US and Europe. Is it counterintuitive to just let TB come back? It's killed over 1 billion people. Even with a vaccine, it kills over a million people a year in the poorest countries.

I know. That's not how intuitive logic works. When vaccines (or any public health measure generally) work things don't happen. How they work and why is not visible, nor does it align w "common sense." People take it for granted and it doesn't take many people opting out to trash herd immunity.

I rely on herd immunity so I take it more than a little personally. I just like to drop some historical facts when I see someone entertaining the idea. Without the scientific understanding, the average Joe can still compare life before and after scientific advancement.

They seem perfectly willing to ignore maternal death rates, etc prior to proper surgical/procedural prep in Hospitals around WW2. So, yes, too many idiots with "common sense" still refuse historical facts. That's their ID, Trump said, so...
