I'd argue that they're not angling to stop another Trump. They're angling to be the next Trump

All throughout high school I watched democrats being constantly jealous of the "unified" front that the republicans purportedly presented after Bush won, then Obama swept and the party proceeded to antagonize every little thing that worked about his campaign at all up to the current moment

They had harris and walz making waves right away with help from Obama advisers and they immediately put a stop to that by forcing Hillary campaign managers on the campaign like you cannot be serious

What extra kills me is that he was popular! He was a mass murdering scumbag for the empire but his administration killed it with the PR. As it turns out pop feminism and gay marriage broadly approved only after it was a foregone conclusion was way more popular than the admin that lied about Iraq

His most popular legacy to the point of getting conservative republicans to approve of him was a facsimile of a gesture of universal health care, like you can't be serious. It feels like 2025 is 15 years of resentment at him for making them popular, finally given an excuse to go mask off
