I think it's a genuine problem that some people and a lot of corporations thinks that something that can be enjoyed by kids, should only be enjoyed by kids, and make active steps to infantilize their projects to the point that it insults the smarts of children. It makes them actively stupider.

That's not like "Ohhh I can give my child GTA", that's "I can put nuance in a video game meant for kids and have something to bond and discuss with them about as a parent." If you make it an experience that the parent can enjoy, too, it makes customers of both the child and the parent.

And as a bonus, the child grows up with better media literacy because they were exposed to complex topics early. It's a win-win-win.
