She said her grandmother was born in 1927. It wasn’t a situation of slavery then. We don’t know if her grandmother was born in another country, forced into marriage with an older man as some countries still practice. It’s just complete ignorance on her part to be a public figure accepting minor rape

Are you suggesting that there were no slaves in 1927, so no Black female slaves were being raped and impregnated by white men? Due respect, tho slavery was "abolished" as an institution by then, sharecropping (forced labor) still very much existed. And African American women were still being raped.
Share cropping is Jim Crow slavery. It still exists to this day. Tbs 12 year olds didn't have the choice in the matter. Its forced rape then forced rape now. 12 year olds shouldn't have to endure rape.

Sadly that too. As of June 2025, 4 states have no statutory minimum age for marriage & child marriage under age 18 is legal in 36 states. 14 states have banned underage marriages, with no exception. Most of the child marriages were because of underage girls.

Yes…segregation and Jim Crow laws existed then in 1927 as did lynchings in the South. African Americans were still “free” to work and move where they needed to. They weren’t called slaves after the 14th Amendment, but didn’t get civil rights until 1964.
