They did a gay bachelor in Germany, called "Prince Charming" 😏 en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_...
Yes! And queer Love is Blind too!
would be fun to see the guys in the house hook up while waiting for their date
See the Jesse Tyler Ferguson Funny or Die skit: exactly this!
also...bravo did this 20 years ago...with a secret "str8" guy in the mix
I wrote about it at length in this post about Finding Prince Charming, one of failed attempts at a gay dating show that Piepenburg mentions: www.thestranger.com/film/2016/09...
I'm gonna drop screenshots of the relevant paragraphs here, in case there's a reality producer out there who wants do this. I'm ready, willing, and able to serve as an EP on a gay dating show that FINALLY gets this right and manufactures the artificial scarcity that makes straight dating shows work:
A lesbian dating show would make a ton of sense, considering how difficult dating is for lesbians...
I dunno. How much worse could it be than the existing show
“… a writhing heap on the lawn” 😂
The gay version of anything heteronormative seems to appeal to an heterosexual audience more than it does to a queer person. If it would make them respect our experience, that would be cool. But have these shows made dating better for anyone? Or better, happier people?
Well someone hasn't seen 'For the Love of DILFs'. Himbos and Daddies living the stereotype fantasies the str8s have about how teh gays are. Not to be outdone, there was that season of 'For the Love of MILFs' where it was Moms & their sons in the house.
Eh, some gays do live those lives, and they deserve representation too...
The problem is the str8s are to stupid to understand that we aren't all clones of each others, that there are all sorts of gays from RuPaul to Mayor Pete & everywhere in between.
Let us not forget the if the gay guy picks the str8 guy, the str8 guy gets all the money "dating" show. I mean they did try the str8 version with who wants to marry a "millionaire" liar, but people didn't enjoy mocking str8s as much as the gays trying to find love.
Where is Disney/ABC on DEI?
Bravo did "Boy Meets Boy" 22 years ago.
OMFG I’m single love dads n muscle jocks
Not exclusively gay but Are You the One? on MTV did a queer season and that was fascinating.
I always figured that was the reason. When every participant is potentially attracted to everyone else, you lose the (IMHO sick) thrill of the main character rejecting suitor after suitor.
That's why you need to go with a twink bachelor and a crowd of suitor bears who aren't into bears. Those guys are out there.
Another idea whose time has come – and to which I've enthusiastically subscribed for about forty years now – is this: Kill Your Television.
counterpoint: Gay Love is Blind.
This is why I think Netflix’s “The Boyfriend” got the premise right. Just stick a bunch of cute gay guys in a house and only lightly manufacture dates to see which ones successfully pair off. It wasn’t a competition but was still fun.
Would any of them include racial diversity or the same monolithic casting of pale shades?
I Kissed A Boy on Hulu
I guess nobody remembers Bravo's "Boy Meets Boy" dating show from the early days of the channel's Cohenification... www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzKd...
funny or die already tackled this a while back. “I’m a trial attorney!” youtu.be/YdKYwI4C4t4?...
