Even the Crochet trade, I don’t think there’s much doubt the Red Sox got the best player. The White Sox got volume to paper over their weak system, but they’re going nowhere if they’re constantly trading down talent-wise. A team full of Teels and Meidroths isn’t bad, but not a contender.
Might underrate Teel's production at a premium position. Filling a roster with Major Leaguers instead of carrying guys a win or 2 below replacement value is also a huge improvement for them, tbh. On the merits, they successfully swapped present production for a decent amount of future production.
Your farm system should produce 2-3 WAR guys so you don’t have to trade star players for them to fill those -WAR sinkholes. Can’t even say it’s early to judge because Getz has been director of player development since 2017. We going to wait 10 years and two rebuilds like with Rick Hahn?
I dunno, man, the common denominator is always Jerry. This is a team where Abreu had to buy Jimenez a tablet. Garcia was scouting pitchers on YouTube. They didn't get Pitch Lab until 2020. And when they bought a fancy hitting machine, they couldn't take it on the road b/c they didn't buy the case.
Jerry is probably always the limiter, but that’s even more of a reason to be skeptical of Getz. He’s Jerry’s yes man. It’s what it is. Maybe they can go from horrible to just bad next year. Appreciate you indulging my complaints, but I’ll stop chewing up your afternoon with them.
No, worries. TBH, Getz earned skepticism by recommending Grifol, signing Keller, and bringing back C-clang. Don't have to dig much deeper than that to lose the benefit of the doubt.

Thats fair, upside guys go bust more often. And I think on the field the Sox have been getting more out of guys defensively than they have, so progress there. But in his yearly performance review I think he still has to answer for the lack of progress on developing major leagues from 2017-2023.
