A big part of the book that I was writing, before I went to do something that wasn't making me want to die, was about this. The story about Hunter Biden's Laptop literally does not make any sense, especially the fact that there's a very good chance there is no Hunter Biden's Laptop.
The intent is always noise and innuendo and accusing your opponent of what you are guilty of. The right has been blatantly operating in bad faith for decades and any attempt to discuss their accusations is accepting and laundering their bad faith.
Anything a bad faith actor says should be rejected wholesale. Even if all they are saying is the sky is blue.
But even if there is a laptop, and it is Biden’s: The hard drive Trumpnuts crapped on about was a *copy* of a hard drive - so inadmissible. The chain of custody of laptop / hard drive copy was so utterly shite no one would be able to swear data had not been added - so also hurled from a court.

Someone I talked to for the book said to me "he had like 15 laptops. It's what rich people do." There was no central "laptop," and that's what makes it all more likely he just had his iCloud hacked.

i said early on (on twitter before i deleted my account) that it seemed odd how all of the files that were on the laptop just happened to be stuff that is backed up to iCloud. i wouldn't be surprised if there was a "laptop," it just was populated with the hacked data and dropped off by someone else

Any Mac user knows all it takes is a login and password to image an Apple account to another device. @emptywheel.bsky.social has a great timeline of the password issues and logins. Someone got access to his account. The hooker filming him could’ve done a password change or temporarily add an email.

Someone on Twitter had a really good thread at the time about how it looked a lot more likely that his Cloud documents and email were hacked and the info was put on a burner laptop to be laundered through the "repair store" and Giuliani, which is why they wouldn't allow it to be examined by experts.
Ergo a lot of the info was real enough, but they just used it to pump up all the "Biden Crime Family" conspiracies. Wish I could find the thread, but it's buried in Nazis now.

Best I could piece together was someone hacked a device or account Hunter was using (likely his iCloud) then sent the files to someone in Rudy’s circle. To cover up the source of the data, they concocted that bizarre story about the laptop and the computer repair shop.
There were some people I personally respected go down the rabbit hole of Hinter's Laptop being a legit concern. And I started to question our connection
