We can be cynical all we like about this, but Im telling you now, if the EU doesn't come up with a way to move faster and with urgency, over the next few years they will be sliced apart by the US and Russia, piece by piece.

You are misinformed. Most EU nations have increased their financial and military spending in response to Putin’s threat. Collectively they have a GDP to rivals the US. And they are stepping up. What’s changed is Trump is now threatening them changing an 80 year old military agreement overnight.

Not long ago all the complaints about the EU were that's it's going to get too much power, be too centralised, have an army etc Now it's all, why isn't there an army, why are decisions so fragmented, why isn't it more centralised Some people need to understand sometimes you get what you wish for

Things are moving faster than you think. Trump just got more or less denounced by every single major party leader here in Norway tonight on live television, and these people can’t agree on anything. We know fascists when we see one. All this shitfuckery will strengthen Europe and weaken the US.

This kind of collective political rhetoric was unthinkable 2 weeks ago.

It's a great sign. But it's barely a start. If Europe moves half as fast to unite, spend in defence, and help Ukraine, they'll still be well behind the pace that the US is making austere damaging changes. European mindset as leaders against Russian expansion & weapons manufacturing must start today

Russia with time to rebuild and an American President willing to use their leverage and European reliance on American weapon systems and maintenance, could reap havoc on Europe, unless they take steps to build and arm locally.

The Russians have and will continue to have a massive personnel problem. You need actual people; Russia can’t even properly feed theirs.

Good. Needed. A lot of work & money will be required to make sure all systems, including satellite tech can be kept under an EU umbrella. Another reason the UK needs to solidify security ties with the EU as reliance on the US becomes untenable.

The money will be there, and the Galileo system were created for a reason. One of the main points now going forward will have to be to solve the energy problem, hoping my country steps a bit more up here

If I was the EU, I would start investing heavily in the most cost-effective and least resource intensive defensive weaponry possible. Drones, cyberwarfare, espionage, etc. Develop a defense structure that uses the weight of American and Russian defense spending against itself.

One of the many reasons the EU should welcome Ukraine in. So we can learn and take their lessons and experience to heart.

Death of the EU has been talked about for years… yet it’s always found a way to adapt, amazing given how tough it is to find common ground between nations

The world has never been in a position when the US has decided it no longer wishes to be the sole super power. Trump is happy to have a three axis world. Us in the Americas, China in Asia and Russia dictating Europe. Thats the future he sees and will be moving towards.

But one of those three is a struggling mid sized economy with a very depleted army. Russia is under the Chinese sphere and may like to run Europe but is miles away from having the resources to do it imo

Already started with Britain’s exit from the EU. That wasn’t the will of the people. It was a plan years in the making by USSR to isolate the UK - and now here we are, at the club entrance but the bouncer ain’t letting us in as we’re wearing the wrong shoes 🤷
