The best interpretation I can put forward is that this represents a fear of calcifying attitudes within the DNC that has lead to losses against fascism. Doubling down on losing strategies. Note: I agree that its too early to call that. I don't think Newsom represents that today. But there it is.

I hope that the recent spate of Newsom-sniping and the "dark money" knives-out infighting is just storming and norming early on. That this gets worked out before its time to roll up the sleeves for mid-terms and the next national elections (assuming these happen).
