What a great, great farewell note
What a great, great farewell note
I do not see that glimmer of the Washington Post. Nice job, but I question their objective interest in reflecting reality over platitudes.
Also including Will Lewis in that list is outrageous.
She's a great writer. I'm not convinced she's a great journalist. She contributed mightily to the Lance mythology way back when. Either she knew he was doping & lied in the books she co-wrote or she didn't know which makes her a crappy journalist because a lot of people in cycling did know.
That mayor's line was a samurai's blade. The chief probably didn't know he was dead until hours later. It did take my thoughts to a Sting line, "too proud to beg, too dumb to steal"
A tremendous farewell from one of the all-time greats. Sally Jenkins grabbed my attention by the scruff when she was one of the few to report responsibly/honestly about the ginned up (and anti-science) scandal, "DeflateGate." She was, is, and always will be, a WHITE HAT. I'll follow her anywhere.
Any goodness is obliterated by equating Will Lewis to Ben Bradlee. The camaraderie of liars just doesn't measure up to journalistic integrity.
Great, but deeply misguided. WaPo is owned by Bezos, and it's now his mouthpiece; it will only cover news from his point of view, and won't run any stories counter to his interests. The glimmer that she seems moving is the light of the oncoming train. And The Atlantic, well... Sad times.
Nearly impossible to read on a phone. Why can’t journalists figure out most people are on mobile and then screenshot appropriately?
Or at least add alt text (which they should be doing anyway) so it can be read that way.
Agreed. A lot of journalists need to figure it out. Almost seems incompetent at this point. Maybe cross-platform posting makes it a pain in the ass for them? If we can figure it out, they can too.
What a piece of writing. Jesus. Chills.
I expect nothing less from her. Sally is a craftswoman. She has always honored the craft. I’m grateful she’s just moving across town. Bravo, Atlantic.
Interesting how many WaPo writers the Atlantic is picking up.
Well, poop.
Too small and no alt-text FAIL
👏
I’ll never forgive her for hyphenating UConn. 😇
Wow, that was excellent!
She is a phenomenal talent. Glad she’s not hanging it up and can’t wait to read her work in The Atlantic.
Very sweet but fuck Jeff Bezos and fuck the Post.
Amazing
I really enjoy Sally Jenkins writing. She's supremely talented. She's also very problematic in her deference to power and inability to see how feminism connects with our shared humanity. Talking about WaPo heading in a positive direction? Fuck that's some stupid shit. It's dying.
yeah that's a totally delusional coda that weirdly undermines the power of her farewell
and a hat tip to will lewis? come the fuck on
Well, she's a nazi, so...
It's really the perfect summation of her career.
Long firm goodbye note. You can tell why the Atlantic hired her ;)
Typical sports writer, way too many clashy metaphors.
Man who's even still employed at wapo
When will we see your farewell note to NPR? They have, not so slowly and not so quietly, become tools of the Fascist U.S. Government.
yeah, but this glorious new washington post she speaking about, I can’t see.
she *is* speaking
