Pathetic faux ignorance
Pathetic faux ignorance
absolutely wild that he doesn't know about batteries.
I offer Democrats some energy messaging suggestions in this string: bsky.app/profile/w1ts...
This is his standard talking point, he assumes his audience is un-intelligent. No-one has more disdain for MAGA members than MAGA elites.
he may not be aware
Uuuuh....solar and wind are cheaper (even without subsidies) than carbon based generation, you moron in a bad suit!
Seriously, an intellectual bungalow and intellectual basements vote for him!
But we do know when the oil corporations are going to stuff our pockets.
But Kai, if evolution is real WHY ARE THERE STILL MONKEYYYYS???
Kinda low energy response, Sec'y Burgum.
seriously! like to even PLAY at being this dumb is wild
like it should be insulting to everyone that they think people could buy this
Batteries?
They lie to those too stupid to know about battery storage?
And now they're concerned about whales.
"Batteries? Never heard of 'em!"
Of course, he is from North Dakota, once a big source of oil, now just a place you don't want to visit. All a bunch of climate change deniers and folks who think clean energy is inefficient. How much money do you think he has taken from the oil industry?
I'm constantly astonished that anybody can say that with a straight face, as though the many many thousands of scientists and engineers who created these technologies just simply never thought of the fact that night happens.
What a dumbass
Anyone this stupid shouldn’t be in charge of anything
Just walking the line. This guy was governor of the 4th windiest state in the U.S.
None of this deliberate idiocy and disinformation would work were it not for tens of millions of easily misled, Fox News saturated citizens who have walled themselves into a desert largely devoid of facts, evidence and basic truths
That coal is not going to mine itself 24 hours a day either
We’ve had lithium ion battery technology for decades. Even the simplest American understands that batteries work. These guys’ disdain for the American people is laughable.
He’s performing only for the base, and to the them it makes perfect sense. So given his audience, he deserves A+
You’re right Kai – because he knows better and is just spinning lies. It’s disgusting.
I’m not one to resort to ad hominem attacks, but he’s really asking for someone to talk about where the sun don’t shine.
faux is right—he knows this is bunk
Burgum was born and lived in North Dakota most of his life and he doesn’t know when the wind is going to blow? Only the best people for Trump.
S' okay...we'll never catch up to China anyway.
fkn idiot
He needs tips from Senator Kennedy on how to properly pull off the stupid hayseed affectation.
He looks like he's stoned. High on his own supply.
I know it's so, but how in God's name are there people out there who don't know that this is bullshit?
Why are they so opposed to renewables? I've not figured it out except perhaps that the fossil fuel industry is paying them to oppose it.
Seeeeeeems like you might've figured it out then...
It’s also just another front of the culture war. If educated people like it, then it must be demolished.
Ding ding ding!
If I were Exxon or Shell i'd want to own all the means of producing energy. I'd want to make people pay me coming and going. They're just leaving money on the table.
But is it faux?
Blatantly, intellectually dishonest. The reporters really need to be doing their job and challenging this crap rather then just giving a platform to the disinformation.
Not on CNBC. Their job is to tell their demographic of Vanguard boomers happy stories about their money.
I miss real news 😢
The reason there aren't more dedicated stock market shows is that they go out of business in extended bear markets. People won't watch bad news. Hell, they won't even look at their account statements in a bear market.
Meanwhile, CATL announces mass production on their Sodium-ion battery that is safer, longer lasting (in terms of years), works in colder weather, and costs a fraction of existing batteries. The expected price is $40 kwh. *Cheap* lithium iron phosphate batteries are $235 kwh.
Does the dishonorable Mr Burgum have to call his local coal power plant and ask them to shovel some for him or do they just keep burning it whether he is ready to use the power or not?
Grown man unaware of batteries and how they work!
gas peaking plants are still useful in the transition to batteries but c'mon
Interesting, to me at least, how phenomenally successful / wealthy cabinet members, as well as others in the administration's orbit, debase themselves in service to such an ignorant and vulgar man.
Utterly debase themselves. You'd think they'd have some modicum of self-respect.
It's such a lazy 2005 argument. Like, we're actively running a huge portion of the country on these things already.
He talked a lot about “all of the above” energy strategy when he was a candidate. Lies.
He talks about walking backwards while China blows past the US.
Dude hasn't heard of batteries. Like, wut? Has he been powering his kids' Christmas toys with a treadmill all this time? Inquiring minds want to know.
Burgum: I'll appear on camera as a stupid man, spouting that ignorant stuff you made me memorize, to really stupid people - as though I'm making any sense in this world, today at lunchtime. Big Oil: The crypto has been transferred to your personal account.
Ukraine's success in turning off the gas at that station known as russia must make him nervous.
"the Nintendo switch no longer works when the console isn't plugged directly into the wall" ass argument
"faux"?
If everything they say sounds dumb to you, then the message isn't for you. They don't care about convincing you. They are shoveling simplistic stuff that's easy to remember, even if it's not true.
www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/s...
If only we could get a prominent electronics company to come here to help build a factory that makes high-tech batteries. We could store that renewable energy! Oh, wait...
Yeah, China's already won that race. We didn't even bother to show up.
Sen Dumbfuck on Stupidity.
China. Nothing more to say.
billionaire with mba from Stanford doesn't understand the concept of batteries 😑
Arrogant and insulting to everyday Americans. Most people understand how an electric power grid works - the more alternate energy flows in the less carbon and nuclear based energy is needed. Only those invested in oil & coal would push BS that you can't have solar & wind with oil, gas & nuclear.
He lies. He knows how it works, he knows that wind and solar are cheaper. It's all a line of BS.
He seems dim. Pun intended.
Say you’re deeply concerned about being stuck with stranded fossil fuel assets without *saying* you’re worried about getting stuck with stranded assets
Look! A sentient barrel of oil!
Don’t worry. Those who know when the sun is gonna shine and the wind is gonna blow will take advantage of it and advance. Even the caveman knew when sun shone and the wind blew, planted and harvested to ensure the survival of humanity.
It’s not faux ignorance. It’s 100% legit ignorance!
No more doctors or medicine for him, because, you know, sometimes they just don't work.
How much of the $750 Billion US Fossil Fuel Subsidies are these guys getting back in “campaign donations”.
Not sure from where you're getting that $750 billion number, but it looks like an approximation of the IMF estimate of fossil fuel "subsidies" for 2022, which it claims were $757 billion. Problem is, only $3 billion of those are producer subsidies. The rest, $757 billion are how much more the IMF...
... reckons U.S. CONSUMERS should have paid in (non-existent) carbon and other taxes on the energy they consumed. Of that amount, about 55% relates to carbon and pollutant emissions. But 45% relates not to combustion but to driving. Yet those "vehicle externalities" — the social costs of traffic ...
... congestion (mainly wasted time in traffic) and accidents — would have been just as large if all 🚗s on U.S. roads were EVs. They are not externalities, much less subsidies, "to fossil fuels". A more credible, and well-documented, estimate of U.S. FF subsidies was published yesterday by OCI:
Do they really think we believe the stuff they’re shoveling down our throats? Inconceivable that they think we’re THAT stupid.
Venezuela is an OPEC member. We don't know how the rest of the group will react to Trump's fuckery around there. So, I'd say that fossil fuels are equally mercurial.
Not pathetic. Conspiratorial. Big Oil gave Trump $1BILLION to kill the solar and wind power industries. They’ve been greasing palms for over 100 years. It’s s why we still pay to pollute.
We really don't know what time the sun will shine do we? Um..... sigh
Laughable that Bugrump called solar and wind the most expensive, when in fact they are the cheapest. Solar conveniently tracks the highest demand during the day, with the exception of the early evening (the “duck curve” which is addressed by BESS).
Say the people who defunded NOAA
One of my greatest fears is looking stupid. Obviously he is not bothered by that.
Let me explain this once more - these fossil fuel companies thrive by selling the consumer power. If the consumer stops buying their power, they will crash and burn. The fossil fuel companies have endless resources to get idiots like this to put out misinformation. Solar+battery = $0 monthly bills.
What country is he with?
Storage batteries capabilities elude him
idiot
Meanwhile everyone is buying solar from other countries and in other countries. We’re being left behind.
Typical bad faith argument representative of GOP politicians for 50yrs
Burgum knows better. Stop parrot the senile coot in the WH. Have some self-respect, man!
The idiots do blither away, don't they?
Malicious faux ignorance.
Had better hopes for at least this guy. But no.
How can someone that ignorant be given a position in any administration? I know 6th graders who understand solar and wind energy better than this guy. I agree ... he's faking it to keep the oil vig rolling in.
I would respect the reporter here a lot more if they just asked him, ‘are you really that dumb to believe any of that?’
Agreed, or "... Or are you invested in oil & gas stocks?"
Does CNBC challenge his ignorance? It’s not called reporting because you report without challenging. These statement are without a baseline and without merit. Reporting needs to get better after this debacle. Numbers need baselines. Facts need context. And spokespersons need to be held accountable
Here in Bonavista NL, the wind is always blowing - just not the hot air of this IDiot.
None of the Trump cabinet were brought on board because of their vast experience, intelligence & acumen. As long as they could kiss Trump’s ass that’s all he cared about. 🤡
Also they are required to create controversies that make his highness look smart...
I’m so tired of propaganda in service of the 1B dollars fossil fuel companies gave Trump.
The daystar leaves us at the end of each day without ever telling us where it's going. How to know if it will even return?
Stupid cannot be fixed !
He pretends not to know how predictable renewables are because he knows what to say to line his pockets with oil money.
Somebody kick him where the sun don't shine (to quote my great grandpa coal miner who died of black lung!
They have to pretend they are as ignorant as their boss, even if they aren't
The dumbest.
With this logic his car would never start up once the engine turned off.
Sounds like he thinks his target audience doesn't know the fundamentals of thermodynamics.
