"James Edwin Yokeley Jr. told an officer that his two juvenile granddaughters found two pills in ice cream purchased from Dairy Queen on Oleander Drive." That doesn't say he called the police. That's what he told the police. There's a difference.

My less charitable interpretation is the kids found the drugs and he had no choice but to act like he was surprised and reported it to the police.

That's certainly possible. As an editor reading that story, my first question to the reporter would be who called the police.

Ice cream is not a good medium for hiding pills. If it’s soft enough to push a pill into it, it’s going to be easy to feel the pill in your mouth. My first thought was that an employee saw him do it and called the police but, yeah, I would be very surprised if he wanted the police there.
