Right but annoying conservative columnists like Brooks all live in progressive cities so he wouldn't know. They need access to the fruits of liberalism (good restaurants, arts, museums, pretentions parties, etc), plus pretty much all of them would get hate crimed if they went to real red America.

Like Brooks in particular, grew up in New York City and now he lives in Bethesda. Because all conservatives are solipsistic, he sees the progressive messaging of the area he lives in and assumes that that's just the entire country.
