Nothing screams "TKO has us by the balls" like a 48 year old guy with no future in the company past December doing a parody of a promo from 14 years ago, to promote a match in Saudi Arabia while the 47 year old punk rock rebel is lying on a table with a Slim Jim sticker on it.

I just got done watching their promo from last week where Hangman clearly lives rent free in Phil’s head and my thought was… These guys look so OLD to be the big draw main event.
WWE’s current push is on Cena, Punk, Goldberg, Orton, Killings, Knight, Zayn, Cody, Priest. Apart from Rollins crew, Gunther and Bloodline, everyone pushed is in their 40s.
Punk and Cena are both closer to 50 than they are 40 and it shows. 😬

I still wonder with a shiver where the JJ storyline was going and I will never be ok with the Cope title feud but there is a STARK contrast between the two companies.
it was basically Jericho, Jarrett and Cope . . . .go fig, none of them have been on tv in months.
There’s a role older folks can play and I think AEW has an opportunity to use them well in the tag and 6 man tag divisions. But they shouldn’t be the top stars and main event of your promotion. And not at the cost of singles folks in their prime.

Now this is unfair. They’re pushing fresh talent - there’s this 58 year old Goldberg guy who has immediately got a title shot and a retirement match without any MITB, KOTR or logic. And they’ve got this new guy Stone Cold Ron Killings. I mean he’s 53, but he’s on the rise. A real focus on the future
It's like we're back in the late 2000s...
The worst criticism I can give for Levesque’s booking in 2025 is it makes me think Vince is back. There’s so many hallmarks of Vince style booking - focus on old guys, babyfaces being buried or looking like idiots for no apparent reason, storylines not making any sense, bad finishes, all heat.
they're really not that different.
For a while it seemed like WWE had figured it out again with Cody, Zayn and booking strong new babyfaces, Bloodline, long term simple logical booking. None of that strength is there at the moment.
