The plan was to make up for lost gas taxes which have been kept ridiculously low in this state and gas sales are way down due to EV adoption here. The original plan was to make ALL vehicles pay the per mile tax and for there to be a weight element but republicans threatened a walk out.
I’ve raised my concerns. How does this capture EV drivers from WA and CA coming into the state? It doesn’t. How does it account for miles I spend out of state?
That sounds perfect, stupid regressives.
They are raising the gas tax a bit but they should probably go much further, CA level.
