My neighbor flies huge flags on his big truck. One is US flag with an Eagle & 'MERICA across it. The other-new one!- is the original colonies flag with 1776 in the middle. Now, I don't know if that's being patriotic OR if gearing up for civil war, but I have my cautious concerns.

I know all of the Service Academies teach that oath to all students. I attended, "Officer and a Gentleman", school (U.S. Navy Aviation Officer Candidates School (AOCS)) Class 33-82; SSgt Kerr, USMC. While at AOCS we (as USN E-4s) also 'Learned and Lived' that oath.

Most officers don’t attend academies. They go to regular colleges and ROTC. It’s not an oath normal soldiers take. It’s a motto. Like “This We Will Defend” or “Semper Paratus”. Not an oath. The oath is to follow the orders of those appointed over me and to protect and defend the constitution.
