Why involve trans folks in this at all? It just seems like an oddly specific element that doesn't really have any political upside.

Because when democrats run from the transgender issue, they make the conservative stance appear correct. The right learning they can use this, goes further, and more rights are on the chopping block. And people care about their rights more than small taxes on eggs.

So the entire political fault lines reorient around people's rights and relative social standing of various groups instead of focusing on economic growth etc.

But all you are going to do is take the message of "the GOP are going to destroy your rights", and let them fall for the trap of thinking that it only applies to trans folks, and then disregard the issue. By specifically including trans folks in the message, you are supporting the GOP lies.

Why is it cudgel, I think they should just not run from it. When it comes up "private individuals should have control over their own medical care. it's not up to government what private humans do". Easy
