I agree, yet I also understand that high school sports can become a really big deal for some kids, as it can impact things like scholarships, etc. And in some cases, where an athlete has only recently begun their transition, it needs to be recognized that may be some advantage. It's complex.
Also, all the science aside, while I think there are legitimate fairness issues in some situations, I also feel like MOST of the arguments against trans athletes are purely based in bigotry. Most of those "concerned" gave zero shits about girls' sports before this issue.

What you need to do is put people who look like MAGA chuds in the message, talking about how the GOP screwed them over.
But all you are going to do is take the message of "the GOP are going to destroy your rights", and let them fall for the trap of thinking that it only applies to trans folks, and then disregard the issue. By specifically including trans folks in the message, you are supporting the GOP lies.
Why involve trans folks in this at all? It just seems like an oddly specific element that doesn't really have any political upside.
Within this context though, when watching the actual interview with Newsom, he simply throws out the 25 year old thing as a factoid, and does not at all suggest that trans people should not be able to transition until that age. We do tons of life-critical decision making well before we're 25.
It's important to note that the actual scientific consensus is not that there is a magic switch that turns off when you reach 25, but that the brain maturation process does in fact continue through your mid to late 20's (varying by individual). 25 is just a simplified shorthand for that fact.
Might want to watch that interview with Newsom yourself. Might give you a different impression if you saw his whole statement.

That's not what Newsom says in that interview, if you watch the whole discussion. Kirk tries to get him to say that trans athletes should not be allowed to play in sports. Newsom rejects that, acknowledging that fairness is a legitimate issue, but it needs to be paired with grace and compassion.
I think this applies to a lot of the discussions about urban development, inherently assuming that the solution to everything is within the heart of major metro areas. In actuality, some problems can be addressed by thinking, "what if we brought good things from urban areas, elsewhere?"
Yeah, I definitely don't think that. I'm totally supportive of trans folks, and think their rights are as important as anyone's. I just disagree with some of your interpretation of events, but I don't think we are going to have a productive conversation in this format.

I think there were other motivations for vetoing that bill, besides not caring about trans folks. That bill would have resulted in fairly minimal impacts to actually getting more healthcare, but would have increased the licensing costs for those facilities forever. That's not great.
In terms of rights, he signed the SAFETY acct, which protects trans youth from being outted without their consent by school and government officials. He did say that he thought trans athletes competing in some situations was unfair, but isn't really a crazy take. In SOME situations, it is unfair.
To be clear, his aside about cognitive development is the generally held scientific consensus, that human brains complete their adolescent development in the mid to late 20's. This isn't an anti trans position, and doesn't suggest that people cannot make decisions prior to that point.

I feel like a big part of the solution for the cost of living issues folks are fighting with, is realizing that you don't need to live in the major metro areas. There's actually stuff out there besides farms.
There are a ton of smaller cities, as well. Bloomsburg, State College, Williamsport, small college towns, with populations between 15-50k people. You have stuff from a city, nightlife, entertainment, but low cost of living, no traffic, and only minutes from wilderness regions.
Just so folks know, there are actually way more than 2 cities in Pennsylvania where it's pretty cool to live, especially if you like doing things outdoors.

In the same interview, he talks about how parents have told him that transitioning saved their child's life and now they are thriving. Don't take my word for it though, folks can watch the video themselves. Holistically though, it does not seem like an anti trans tirade.
For the record, Newsom didn't actually say that people shouldn't transition before the age of 25. That's based on an interview he did, where as an aside, he mentioned the commonly held view that people's brains are developing until their late 20's.
