It does seem like we the taxpayers end up paying for it in the end. I suspect the same will apply to the tar sands cleanup when the time comes

I think paying for the tar sands is inevitable—look at what’s happening in the rest of the Alberta with abandoned wells. Only difference is it’s a provincial not federal liability.
