The 300+ million Americans info that was stolen was copied to a not so secure server and the intent is sell it on the dark web. I locked my credit report and subscribe to a credit reporting svc (who alerts you to fraud) so no one can use it to apply for credit for anything. Everyone should do that.

No, Experian has a free service and you can lock your credit there for all 3 reporting companies. You can unlock it if you're applying for any loan and then lock it again. It also offers alerts for many things if it detects them. Even on the dark web. Other companies do the same. Look for 1 you want
