Also: most institutional leaders have reached their current positions due to luck & inertia, not ability to lead in a crisis. I knew a lawyer who was in the oil industry in '73 & he described the utter helplessness of oil company execs who were suddenly required to actually lead. This looks similar.

This is what I was terrified of for years as the social environment shifted dramatically in the late 1910s with the onset of encephalitis lethargica & the 1918 influenza. It's been terrifying watching that shift as it's as if society loses its moral compass & empathy w mass death & infection.
