Yes! Some schools are trading safety and student rights in the name of improving numbers. It is not acceptable. Of course children need to learn to be respectful and focus on their learning, during class. But, there is no need to punish all kids for misbehavior of some.
I understand they want to prohibit phones in classrooms in Texas? Uvalde comes to mind.
Individual schools have been doing this too. That is why it is so important to vote in local elections. Rules like these are usually made by school boards...elected locally...members of these boards often run unopposed.
