Saturday's session left me like this even after I already decided to quit, so now I'm waiting for the best time to text the DM I'm quitting. When the DM and the players aren't on the same for what you want out of a campaign, it's time to have some hard conversations.

You can't set up a campaign to be "show up when you can" and then make a big deal out of how everyone needs to be there to fight something, or else they're letting down the team. And the barbarian's player (who's a PROBLEM) decided it was appropriate to ask me loudly if I as a player were celibate.

I am very private about myself for a reason, lady, I don't know you or trust you enough to get into the nitty-gritty of my demisexuality, let alone my history with sex and dating.

That's a yikes from me. I hope they dropped it when you indicated you didn't want to talk about it.

I don't remember how it resolved besides my total lack of answer. Convo at that table moves fast. I'm assuming the subject was changed quickly.

I've been blessed to have a really good and steady group for the last 8 years, but before that was a ton of groups falling apart quickly or slowly, so I have some inkling of the struggle you're in. I hope the break up is smooth for you.

Yeah. This was a second concurrent group as a player, so I don't feel a huge loss. My Friday game is really good. Mostly I just want to minimize drama.

I once tried to minimize drama in exiting a group by extending an olive branch to the DM that we could do a scene in the next session to dismiss the character tastefully. This turned into me being held hostage for the entire session trying to initiate the scene and being thrown into combat instead.

Yeah. I debated staying for one last session for this dragon turtle fight, but my friends talked me out of it. Like...what's the point?

Yeah, I find I agree with your friends, too. Hate to see games sour but good self-care to get out before it gets worse.

There have now been two sessions dedicated to brainstorming fighting this thing, and they STILL want to talk about strategy out of session. Needless to say, there is no strategy.

Just go hit it until either it stops moving or you do. That's pretty much what all rpg combat boils down to eventually, right?

Yeah. Basically.

As a DM I do try to make it more nuanced than that, but D&D5e is resistant to my creativity.

Yeah. It's simplifying things but like...the people with more complicated classes who CAN make a difference don't know he to play their classes and won't brainstorm. So it's the paladin and me as a monk and like...I just punch things, dude.
