Caveat Emptor. The GOP has for years made it clear they only care about the fetus, not the child. That $5k will be the last bit of help you get to raise your child. After that, they will cut SNAP, and Headstart, and anything else that will help the CHILD develop. And in Trump's Amerikka ...1/2

avatar
Ezlifelin @ezlifelin.bsky.social

taking that $5k would be opening the door to government control of your child. Expose your child to ideas they don't like or information they disagree with and you may find your child "removed".

Nobody is having a whole baby they weren't already going to have for $5K. It won't increase the birthrate. Europe tried a substantially more generous version of this and it made life easier for families (good! let's do that) but didn't increase the birthrate. Embrace immigration.

🧵 children will be neglected and abused. This will cause domestic violence in the long run. This is a horrendous proposal and does not need to happen under any circumstances. The birth rate is dropping for a reason! People cannot afford to even take care of themselves let alone children!!!!!

Do you realize what this $5,000 reward for having a baby will do? This will cause more singlehanded damage than probably anything Trump has done thus far. Men will convince their partners to have children for the money, some won’t need convincing. Babies are expensive, children will be neglected 🧵

$5000 would be there and gone so fast, but also the reasons why people don't want to bring children into this world should be what is addressed instead, lol.

They want lots of babies. They just don’t want to take care of them. Patriarchy.

Anyone who can be convinced to have a kid for the promise of $5,000 is *probably* not someone who's financially stable enough to have a kid.

The people pushing women to have more children are also responsible for babies starving in Africa due to cuts to USAID and for (US citizen) children of parents from Latin American countries being deported. It's very obvious that they only want more white children, preferably from wealthy parents.
