That horror etched itself into my life and forged my belief in the urgency of disarmament. I’ve heard this horror reflected over and over again in the stories of other hibakusha—survivors of these unimaginable attacks.
That horror etched itself into my life and forged my belief in the urgency of disarmament. I’ve heard this horror reflected over and over again in the stories of other hibakusha—survivors of these unimaginable attacks.
In 1983, The Day After reached 100 million Americans and helped compel President Reagan to urgently pursue nuclear arms reductions. Narrative power helped make history: treaties followed that slashed worldwide stockpiles by about 80%.
'Threads' should be shown in the US. It's way more disturbing.
Today, for the first time in four decades, disarmament is stalling. Nuclear arsenals may rise again. It doesn’t have to be this way. We hold the pen for our collective story. We have the power—if we choose to use it.
And the nauseating, freely, scarey thing about this is. During one of the Mango Mussolini's first briefings he asked. " What's the sense of having nukes (his word) if we can't use them?
🙏
That’s why I’m asking you to join us in calling for a safer world without nuclear weapons. #CultureAgainstNukes
Never again💙
It's more than coincidence you bring this up George. I've been racking my brain lately, trying to figure out how to start a process that would do better for human kind.
Anything for you my friend 🫂❤️🔥🌏😇
I've been to a good few museums in my time, some of which contain the horrors of our history, but the gallery in the Hiroshima Peace Museum is the only one that made me feel physically ill at the sight of the real world examples of what nuclear weapons are capable of
I shall answer the call, but I fear that a world free of nuclear weapons is a world beyond humanity as we exist. "I Have Become Death, Destroyer of Worlds" was a prophetic statement, as more and more court that death, for the destruction of others.
DONE. And following @nti.org here on Bluesky too!
www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5XJ...
Neither one of those bombs needed to be dropped. The scientists on the project begged the administration to not use them but the Truman administration wanted to send a message to the world; the USA not only has nuclear weapons of mass destruction but will use them, bow down. #CultureAgainstNukes
The post made me click your page. You have problems. You should talk to someone.
I think Americans should be required to visit Hiroshima once in their lifetime. For me it was life changing. So sad. 😞
Exactly! What did Japan do to deserve being nuked anyways!? It was due to nothing but racism
And why attack 2 cities of civilians? So unnecessary! Just a massive show of force and a totally unethical human experiment.
Exactly, it’s not like they attacked a harbor or anything, no way!
Humanity needs to stop worshipping morally corrupt men who believe power is strength. We need to be more empathetic and open to other ideas. See peace as the ideal not conquest.
It starts at home. Allow your men to love and be loved.
Kind of difficult given the expense and hassle of international travel. Especially for someone, like me, who is extremely sensitive to pressure change and can't fly.
I mean, the usual firebombings of Japanese cities were more horrific and killed even more people. And let's not forget why there were bombings in the first place.
Americans and the world need to visit Hiroshima and the Auschwitz concentration camp, so we can learn not to repeat those histories.
How many people did Japan kill? How many people died in the firebombing of Tokyo?
I have and agree it does change you.
Especially if you go through the museums at both cities
Yes, we should. Also the Holocaust museum.
+1 to that. The museum is emotionally very difficult to get through, but incredibly eye opening.
Or Nagasaki. The world's second nuclear attack occurred 3 days after the destruction of Hiroshima. Japan's government had apparently been too slow to respond to the unconditional surrender required in response to the destruction of Hiroshima, so the people of Nagasaki paid the price.
I haven't been there, but just reading "Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes" book in middle school changed me. That was many years ago, and I still remember it vividly. I made paper cranes for years.
"Z for Zachariah" is another good one.
My mother was in Kobe. She was firebombed. I had her nightmares for a long time.
Here in the UK we had our own nuclear holocaust film, "Threads", utterly harrowing and very much turned people's opinions against nuclear weapons here, nothing more convincing than seeing your own home being obliterated, even if fictional...
🕊️🕊️🕊️
at least they have a high threshold for use
I respectfully disagree. If Ukraine held nuclear weapons in 2014 the Russian invasion would have never happened.
Seems a lot of people forgot about "Never again!"

Signed. Now, they want to put a nuclear power plant on the moon. Why? How is that helping earth? Powerlines to the moon? Energy costs to travel from earth to the moon? If we damage the moon, we would end life on earth. The Moon is why this planet has life. www.ebsco.com/research-sta...
No one’s powering Earth from the Moon. Lunar reactors are for space missions, so we don’t rely on sunshine during 14-day lunar nights.
Even Shatner has woken up to the fact that we are in trouble. I kind of thought he was leaning right. www.instagram.com/reel/DNDaC0L...
I know cancer patients have been saved by medical advances from space. But We need to solve problems here before we think about disturbing the environment of the moon. I say it's an environment. We still don't know enough.
I still think it's nuts. We are ruining the planet we have. I dont think it's smart to mess with the moon. We have illness due to all the crap we eat. We have climate issues. We really are not being tech smart when we destroy to much while we create. Building a toy for rich boys to have toys.
If Israel could use a nuclear weapon on Gaza, it would. The proximity to Jewish population centers is the reason they don't. Instead, they are decimating the population, one child at a time, with American supplied weapons. I don't really see the difference.
I watched Atomic People last night narrated by survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Horrific experience for everyone especially the children. Reinforced for me why I have supported CND for so long. So sorry for what you went through.
80 years and so far so good.
They’re not even necessary. Look at Gaza.
A nod to George Takei for Honorary 2028 Presidential Nominee🗽 To have Amerika boldly go where no man has had her go before! 🚀 Hey, To dream or not to dream, that is the question. GT-28 I like it! 🖖😜🖖
If ONLY!!?
Both Trump and Putin are liars with zero honor or credibility. Neither would stand by any agreement they pretended to make.
At my university, and many others, we incorporated the event into classes. My living room was stuffed with my Political Communication students. The Doctors Rybacki were also part of a national seminar. Our role was to analyze the events in the opening, why was the war begun?
So, … you must have agreed with Israel and the USA bombing the Iranian enrichment facilities in an effort to stop their uranium enrichment to create nuclear weapons?
Tell America, the only country which has used atomic bombs killing over 150000 people in one instance and over 200000 affected in many ways. USA used the atomic bombs against one of the smallest country because the small country was brave and strong. USA could not compete with conventional weapons.
The USA decided, instead of sending more Americans to die on the beaches of the Japanese mainland, that they would show off their new weapon and bring an end to the war. Fun fact: at the time, the USA only had two operational bombs. Had the Japanese not surrendered, we’d had to have made another one
Several weeks before the US dropped the 1st ⚛️ on Hiroshima, the admin was notified that they had 7 more ready.
“One of the smallest countries”? Are you trying to minimize the strength of Japan during WWII? Do you think that they were just some helpless country getting picked on by the USA? We could have ended up defeating the Japanese with conventional weapons at a great loss of American lives.
That is exactly the point. Guess how many Americans were lost in Vietnam. A futile lost war.
Was that your point? I thought your point was that the USA dropped a bombs on the defenseless Japanese?
I never said defenseless. But you are correct. They were all civilians who were not warriors that America killed in Japan.
That means you agree there were now tactical planning and none were braver the the Japanese. Guess what the result was in Vietnam. USA LOST the war even with advanced henious weapons like cluster bombs NAPAM phosphorous etc. LOST.
We now know that the USA wasn’t fighting only Vietnamese communists. China and the Soviet Union had regular soldiers in the fight and were supplying the North Vietnamese. Let me guess, you must be rooting for the Russians, with North Koreans and Chinese soldiers fighting along side them in Ukraine?
Not really. USA had no business to enter the war in Vietnam. USA lost the war and Vietnam is perhaps the same as before
Free Palestine
and we lost another Hibakusha (survivor) last year, Shigeko Sasamori, who spent the rest of her life working for global peace with joy. One of the Hiroshima Maidens who were helped by Norman Cousins. (with my son who was then the age she had been Aug. 6, 1945) www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

A sad time in our country. So sorry for you and your family.
No more Fascist Republicans.
Where on the scale of human misery do these bombs fall? Like the 1 - 10 scale of how you feel in the doctor's office. I don't know if we're going to survive as a species long enough to stop any of the things we're doing to try to kill ourselves. I'm sorry for your loss.

This, along with the 9th of August, was a very dark day in the story of humanity. Here's a big hug for you George. 🫂
A beautiful friend of mine is dying and went into hospice. He had so much grace, gratitude for his life and thankfulness. And then I turn on the TV and see Trump being nasty, vindictive and a bully. The wrong people are leaving us.
Poor you 80 years ago again. But never a peep about what this bipartisan government is doing today to Palestinians today. #GenocidalUniparty
He has spoken out on Gaza.
Show me.
Go check his profile yourself. It wont take long
My grandfather, wounded & captured during the defence of Singapore after the Japanese had already murdered millions across Asia, had been moved to mainland Japan to be used as continued forced labour & a human shield from invasion after years of maltreatment & abuse.
I don’t know if @georgetakei.bsky.social will see this, I recognise his trauma, but I hope he understands that I grew up seeing the impact of Japanese actions on my grandmother & mother & the intergenerational trauma has been an exacerbating factor in my own service related PTSD. It’s really hard.
I don’t have the fortune to tell it from memory, only the sadness of my mother & grandmother, as he died far too young - crippled by the physical impact of malaria, typhoid, dysentery, malnutrition & a raft of other ailments in addition to the debilitating PTSD which was never diagnosed or treated.
Respect to your grandad Ian. My dad was in the jungles of Burma when the bombs were dropped. He had no idea of the carnage wrought but was grateful they were dropped as he was one of many being prepared for the potential invasion. 1)
He didn't see his mum and dad for over four years and endured physical and mental hardship for the rest of his life but bore no grudge. And the fact is that Le May had 'perfected' the use of napalm in conventional bombing to kill way more people than the nukes did. The nukes ended the war earlier.
My family was touched by that war. An uncle I never met died 3 months before my birth in the South Pacific killed by Japanese. The local papers said "he had 26 Japs to his record." He was 19 years young. Never forget the lives lost & who started the war Dec. 7, 1941.
No intention of being disrespectful, but the Japanese had started their nationalist expansionist aggression by 1931 at the latest. It’s important to remember the Chinese victims of the Imperial Japanese Army.
War leaves scars deeper than time can heal. Your grandfather's resilience speaks volumes about human endurance amidst inhuman conditions.
I recommend Darkness before the Dawn, a diary secretly kept during captivity by one my of Grandfathers fellow Sergeants in the 5th Bn, Royal Norfolk Regiment. ISBN 978-1-904985-55-6
Ian, thank you for sharing. I understand George has a perspective based on his experience, but to not mention the horrors that Japan committed against the Chinese, the Philippines and POWs is not revealing the entire story. Japan had killed millions, many ruthlessly. They needed to be stopped
No more!
The enēmy here is tRump. #JCPOA worked just fine, the product of numerous nations, negotiating since 1970s! Ripping up #JCPOA w/out replacement was ignorant & insanely reckless. Yet another DjT bigoted reaction to Obamaʻs successful foriegn policy.

America dropping these two bombs was a crime against humanity.
My gods!! I did not know that! You have cred, that’s for sure!
Another horrible chapter in America.
This one is not, this saved a lot of lives - and not only American soldiers, but Japanese lives as well
I think you might be a little confused. Of course the bombs ended the war at a huge cost to our enemy’s civilian population! Japanese internment however was a rotten part of the history of America. I think of it in the same sense of the displacement of the Native Americans and black slaves here!
Ah, on that I agree.
I’m so very sorry.
I am sorry the United stayed did this to your home country, it should never have been done for any reason and should never be done to anyone anywhere - ever ( even to a certain orange dictator and his ilk )
Some horrors are too big to comprehend, but when one man tells the story of his childhood, people can get a glimpse of reality. Maybe they can imagine a little of what that would have been like. And maybe they will vote better because of it. Maybe one of them will become a wise, ethical, leader.
All the stories we are seeing are so horrible with Southern California today... Penske should have the names of who rented the trucks They say they're not supportive of it, well who rented them?
Because Japan was forced to surrender, my father did not have to help with an invasion of Japan, and came home. War is never the right answer.
No more Gazas, no more Sudans, no more Congos!!!
The Constitution of the United States Website at Congress.gov has removed several sections! The U.S. Constitution web page has cut the sections limiting states rights and removed the 'Writ Habeas Corpus' or the "right to due process". The autocracy continues. web.archive.org/web/diff/202...
🙏💙may never see the Nazi concentration camps but I’m determined to honor memory of Japanese held here.
Horrible mistake and we can never let atomic bombs be used again. Sorry you were held in internment camp 🥲
😢😢 The potential will always be there for total annihilation until humankind stops being greedy for power & $$$!
All war is an abomination.
For many years I have protested, drawing chalk outlines all over the city.
🫡 Absolutely... carry on. my kind of 'Good Peep'✌🏽
Wiped out nearly half of population. It always comes to extermination. Just shows the mindset
Never again.

Amen!
I remember reading "1001 Paper Cranes" in elementary school.
My wife's mother was a hibakusha. She survived several bouts of cancer and always had a low white cell count. A fiercely independent woman, teacher, and voracious reader. She passed away a few years ago at 93. Her name was added to the list in the Centopath in Hiroshima.
💔❤️
I am so sorry that my nation caused her to suffer.
Bruh
A history that a lot of people like to forget as having happened "so long ago" for "good reasons". When it was first taught to me it was sugarcoated as "shortening the war for the greater good". It was never really emphasized that we murdered civilians en masse, twice.
On of the most horrendous war crimes by one of the most criminal countries ever. The very same country feeding the genocide in Palestine. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...

Horrific act.
Unless Moscow is the target.
Being cruel to others never brought greatness. It brings shame. Empathy is where greatness lies. That's why 🗽 is an empath. That's why she's holding her torch for the weak and lost.
I'm sorry to hear that, mr. Takei.. 😭 . Peace & Love
♥️
You gotta read what the United States did based off pure gossip n fear. I cried when I read it. I can’t believe the things the united states are capable of. Well before Donnie 2.0
Some stories need repeating again and again.
It's so discouraging how people don't seem to learn from history.
The memory of the air raid sirens as a call to tuck heads to our little bellys under flimsy desks still haunt. How to snatch my younger brother in the class next to mine & run across the street to a bomb shelter behind our home in the Cold War ? Is a differant reoccuring terror, George...
I read Ellsberg book,I still cannot believe we used it but worse yet,the first test, they did not know if the test would not kill Earth yet the tested anyway. We always take technologies & use them for evil. Now its algorithms & AI.
It was absolutely the right thing to do. The Japanese were hal a year - a year away from the bomb as well and they'd use it no probs. I hope I don't need to explain about how the world where Axis won would look like.
Yup. If anyone honestly believes the Japanese wouldn’t have used a nuclear bomb on Pearl Harbor, if they had the technology, they’re fooling themselves,
PBS has been showing heart wrenching programming of survivor stories. The stories matter & deserve our full attention, our solidarity through sorrow, our respect for resilience in the hope that the cruelty of violence is one day only a memory instead of an ongoing tragedy www.pbs.org/search/?q=hi...
My US born Auntie was exposed to the radioactive fallout, miscarried 3 times & wasn’t ever able to have children afterwards. 😿
😭
I’m very sorry sir. It should never have happened. Even more shameful that is was the “good old” USA that did it.
Should they have carried on with the regular firebombings and then proceed with the invasion of the mainland, which in turn would have prolonged the war into 1946 and in turn killed even more people from both sides?
It’s a decent point. In war, no one wins. That’s my opinion. In any event, anytime a side resorts to killing innocent civilians, the have crossed a line and lost something greater than anything they could gain.
WW2 was hell and Japanese were on level with the Nazis in terms of cruelty & evil back then, which was a decent reason as to why there was not a lot of hesitation regarding the bombing of their civilians.
Just watched video of gov Pritzker discussing bomb threat! Person who called it in had White House credentials! Troopers have moved all the democrats to safe houses! Abbott is requesting FBI, in Illinois, to arrest all Illinois democrat representatives ! We are further descending into tyranny 🥶
I recently saw a PBS documentary called "Atomic People" and learned how horrific life was after the blasts. Unbelievable. Also the Americans forbade Japanese journalists from writing about it.
Luv ya, uncle George!
💜
Good luck with that, with this asshole at the helm. I wonder what it’s going to take to have our government stand up to him and remove him from power.
Sympathies. That was dark time. We are in another. I agree that the stories we tell matters. Appreciate your sharing your story…
My mother worked in the Far East Command in Tokyo. During the transition from an occupied Japan after the war to a member of the civilized world. She assisted US Senators and Representatives take tours of both cities. She took the time to see the destruction for herself. She respected the Japanese.
I watched the movie Oppenheimer the other day. I have also been watching NHK World network. Especially, stories about survivors of from August 6th and 9th, 1945. Today about students from other countries who were victims. The fear then was that the chain reaction could burn off the atmosphere.
My question and concern is about the effect a warmer atmosphere could have in the event of another nuclear explosion. Could a warmer atmosphere fuel an extreme chain reaction? All the more reason to have world leaders who are empathetic and human. And to keep the nuclear codes away from madmen.
I'm glad you're here, Mr. Takei.
Those bombs killed for at least a decade. It literally gave the Japanese people leukemia!
I hope you realize this, but you're such an important part of the American zeitgeist, sir, by bearing witness and sharing your experiences. As far as a full, meaningful life, you've been blessed for your contributions to decency.
🥺
I am so sorry, George. It is beyond shameful. 🙏
No child should have to witness such terrors. We should protect all children from the cruel decisions and actions of adults.
❤️💔❤️
Another never, again, ever!!😒🙄😐😒
The US in no way needs to question itself about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, until Japan first takes responsibility for what the fuck it was doing in China.
Sending you Love, George. You are a good person.
No more Russia.
No more wars...
Blessing to you and peace.
No more Rapes of Manchuria. No more Pearl Harbor's. No more Murders of innocent American Sailors. No more Atrocities by the Japanese Army in Korea. No more NEED to end a war, we did NOT START, nor Provoke. No more Bataan Death Marches.
Truly unbelievable! One of the worst decisions in U.S. history! Just like Slavery!
I met one of the people who crewed the plane that destroyed nagasaki. He was in his late 90s and in failing health, he died a few years ago. We should have never dropped the goddamn bombs. Tens of thousands died, and we would have probably won that war anyway.
suno.com/s/CwIBilPhDA... (made with IA and me)
and no more manilas right congressman ahistorical?
So very sorry you lost family members in that horror.
James Cameron is making a new movie about this. It’s taken from a book a survivor wrote and info from Others.
The studio ghibli movie “Grave of Fireflies” moved me in a way that reading about the event nevercould. It’s a good way to reach younger kids if schools would be willing to let older kids watch it; it’s disturbing, but we need to be disturbed.
They're putting a nuclear power plant on the MOON!!!!
My mother was interned in camp in Indonesia in 1942 when she was 9 years old. That bomb may well have saved her life after 3 years of starvation and suffering but, for her subsequent 80 years, she passionately objected to its use.
I’m so sorry you and your family experienced that.
There was a man that was in both attacks!!
Yes, and IMO, this gives you a special right to comment on these matters.
Oh my goodness. I did not know that. Sending much love to you, and in memory of all. 🕯
I’m so sorry to hear this, but we NEED to know the impact of our military actions.
And no more concentration camps!
😞😞😞😞😞 I'm so sorry.
No more concentration camps.
💔💔💔
I had a friend whose father survived Hiroshima and mother survived Nagasaki. Grace had deep things to say about nuclear warfare. I wish I hadn’t lost touch…
I'm with George! 💪🏼
Dropping atomic bombs on civilians was a war crime
Attacking another nation is a crime Defending your own is not Like it or not, the United States were the defending team in the Japan-US conflict Nobody asked Japan to attack Hawaii, except maybe Adolf Hitler.
You are a way better man than I am, I could never stay in that country after that. I could never forgive them if that had happened to me. Mr Takei, I have huge respect for you. You are, indeed, awesome.
Another episode of history we should never forget. 🥲

My 9th grade science teacher made our class read Hiroshima by John Hersey. It was a deeply profound reading for me.
I have been to both of these places. Every potential world leader should be required to go to the Peace Museum in Hiroshima. If they can go through and not be deeply moved (and cry!), they are a soulless shell and not fit to lead. hpmmuseum.jp/modules/exhi...

A horrible time in history. So very sorry.
My GF was waiting to invade the home islands in the Philippines. He didn't expect to survive. He was amazed he made it through New Guinea & Leyte. 23 members of my family wouldn't exist if those landings had taken place. The lesson is- don't launch murderous wars of conquest against your neighbors.
Thank you for sharing your story.
A FB topic of conversation several years ago was about the worst acts of terror in history. I brought up these two atrocities as my entry. Oh boy did that not go over well. I stand by what I said (and am no longer on FB).
I wrote a paper about that very thing while in college, and it went over like a brick. The US government was warned about the ethical concerns expressed by the scientists, especially after the bombs were tested at Los Almos. Truman chose to ignore them because he wanted credit for ending the war.
We got save by JB on the Afghanistan pull out. The Felon would have dropped it. He certianly agreed to MOAB.
The war was almost ended there’s no way the nuclear ☢️ bombs were needed. They were simply testing their destructive power on civilians and cities. They even picked the cities where they thought they’d get less negative publicity from other countries.
You need to pick up a history book
You first Tony; she’s right.
The last holdout to the Axis was Japan. They were not going to give up. If we had gone in boots on the ground, *millions* more would have died. Japan didn't surrender after Tokyo & other cities were firebombed. It didn't surrender after Hiroshima. Only after Nagasaki did it capitulate.
Indeed 🎯
Let's hope Drumpf doesn't do the same.
There is no justification for nuclear weapons, none at all, I was born just 18 months after the bay of pigs incident, unlike Trump, Kennedy wasn't trying to start a war, he was trying to end one.
I am so sorry George that you and many others had to experience this. I'm praying that our country/this world never uses nuclear bombs ever again. 🙏
So very true and sad. 💔 On today's Episode of Science Friday, Dr. Masao Tomonaga talked story. Dr. Tomonaga was only 2 years old when his home city of Nagasaki was bombed. He survived, and grew up to become a physician for other survivors, known as hibakusha. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s...
The atomic bomb was one of the worst creations of man. It's on the same list as napalm, agent orange and social media.
Also AI
Yeah early AI sucks but it was always gonna be a thing. The idea of a none living intelligence is older than most civilizations.
Not to be too pedantic but napalm was a quasi accidental discovery in the search for synthetic rubber during the WWII. But it's all too quick jump to military use was disturbing. Agent Orange was safe and efficient (let me finish) in that if it was manufactured correctly we wouldn't have the...
Issues we still see to this day. However the problem came in when TCDD (dioxin) was produced due to improper temperature regulation during reaction and processing The two chemicals used to make agent Orange are widely used to this day 2,4D and 2,4,5T Infact agent pink was 2,4,5T by itself and
And it contained a higher percentage dioxin per ml due to the lack of 2,4D and caused greater illness and injury. But your point is taken and I would add the proliferation of Teflon and like substances. That one will haunt us for a long time
Omitted about Hiroshima is the hundreds of thousands of slave labor from Korea that were killed in the blast. Outside of the memorial in in the street is a small plaque for the slave labor. Visit Pearl Harbor. Today is a holiday in Japan.
I found an incredible story here: cbfilms.net/2025/07/19/t...
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I had an argument with a family member, who was disgusted by Obama's apology to Japan. I have to clarify history for her to understand Japan attacked a military base in Hawaii. An example of white-wasing history. Hawaii was not a State in 1945! America dropped nuclear bombs on two civilian cities!
Thank you for sharing your own painful story.
No more Republicans!
Dm me 🌹🌹
So sorry this happened to you and your family…and everyone else in those cities…
Your voice is SO important. Thank you!
My late husband’s uncle died in Hiroshima. He was an engineer working for the government and his office was at ground zero. Thirty-three years later my father-in-law welcomed me into the family when his son married me. I think of this disaster/miracle every 8/06.
😭
The only way the supremacists can get what they want is by putting their master race in vaults and nuking the entire surface of the planet. Let that sink in.
It's somewhat ironic that we are the only country to drop nuclear bombs on another country. Well, so far at least.
😞
It was always a point of grim hilarity around my house when one member of us had a Hiroshima anniversary birthday and another, the Nagasaki anniversary birthday. They're kinda the most (only?) noteworthy historical happenings from those days!
But go ahead and slaughter Jews. Take them hostage. The world will act like the terrorists are nothing more than unruly toddlers
Keep talking your talk George. You have a great influence here
Any country that goes firs with the use of a nuclear weapon is bound to be crucified by the world. Any country that respond with another weapon will likely end the human race.
I never thought about the double tragedy of the internment camps and the loses those interned suffered from Hiroshima and Nagasaki losing relatives.
Tell America, the only country which has used atomic bombs killing over 150000 people in one instance and over 200000 affected in many ways. USA used the atomic bombs against one of the smallest country because the small country was brave and strong. USA could not compete with conventional weapons.

🚫 concentration camps‼️
This is part of the human history of the event that I did not know. Thank you for sharing. It must be painful to see how little we have progressed from those dark days.

Amazing how many people are still apologists for Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings, to this day. Including the "pro-life" people who say, "There is never, ever ANY justification for destroying a fetus who is a human." I guess they think no pregnant women were killed by the bombs.
A horrible end for a horrible war people today can't imagine how horrible World War II was everything about it one horror after another it's amazing we ever came out of it at all
We’re here (Earth) for such a short time. We should have a better experience.
I am so sorry you are having to see that whole nightmare playing out again in real time.

Met an old woman about 11 years ago who at 4 was dragged by the hand over a large hill by her Uncle escaping the blast at Hiroshima. The rest of her family died in the bombing or in the weeks after. Somehow she survived.
