This is an amazing resource to see what things really cost across the country
This is an amazing resource to see what things really cost across the country
Very nice. It accurately reflects my pricing experiences. If you like fact based statistical analysis of COL YOY this is a good tool.
It pays to be vegetarian 😅 the meat option is always more expensive
You're not bringing out the BLT index now, are you?
St. Louis FED does a great job in this area. Here is something even more interesting: #beef #inflation #tariffs #TACO #NoKings
O’Donnell .
Watching O’Donnel , being educated by folks with expertise like Krugman makes recording the show every night a must .
That is cool. Everything is going up but not as drastically as people seem to vote by. I get your point with the screenshot that *some* things are stable... BUT you can really see the impact of covid. Wow.
For now…
Absolutely, it's eye-opening to see the cost differences! It really puts things into perspective, especially when comparing lifestyle choices across regions. Have you found any surprising insights?
Douchebag gazillionaire says "What?"
Could this be regarded as growing inflation? Ijs These great accomplishments of the Trump administration (see: we’re making money quote, by Trump); have not reached the American people. Not even the Elon backed $5000 each quote. Pure nonsense proceeds Trump! This chart is light/transparent!
Oil billionaires plan to take your money 1. Spent $2 billion to elect Trump MAGA 2. Trump MAGA declare burning oil safe. Eliminate EPA regulations, expose citizens to cancer and water pollution but increase profits. Stop monitoring CO2. Done.
3. Stop renewable energy projects wind solar grid batteries. US citizen pay for fossil fuel electric power costing 6 times wind or solar. More oil industry profits, more energy expense for you in higher electric power. Done. 4. Oil billionaires fear EVs. They use zero gasoline zero diesel.
50% of oil profits are from gasoline and diesel sales. EVs, over time reduce that to zero. Americans buying EV spend 75% less on fuel. Trump MAGA slow EV sales by stopping building fast charging and eliminating tax incentives for EVs. Americans will spend more on vehicles fuel. Done
It'll get shut down when the child rapist nationalizes the Fed.
True that as far as it goes. @pkrugman.bsky.social has been using FRED in his posts for years. But *puh-leez* somebody with a Tufte-ian sensibility fix the front end of this monstrosity and turn these data into graphs that ordinary people can clear see and understand.
🤣🤣 MAGA folks are the most blind people.
They are a cult.
I think you've missed the point he's trying to make. According to this bar chart, the average prices of these products have barely changed and have mostly remained stable. I think he's trying to say that it's not as bad as the average person thinks. So yeah, your MAGA aunt will applaud.
I disagree, respectfully. My MAGA aunt voted for a horrible human being cause she claimed groceries were way too high. As you pointed out, prices are the same. Point is, to her grocery prices were a crisis for the months before the election. I’ve not heard a word from her about groceries since.
Groceries weren’t a REAL problem before the election and she was told they were. Essentials the exact same across the board, and yet, I haven’t heard any MAGA people complaining about it.
I had read in some reports that some foods had become more expensive in the US and wrongly assumed that the chart was supposed to show that this was not true. But of course, if voters were baited with price cuts and then it didn't happen, that's frustrating (to put it mildly).
For sure, that’s what makes it so frustrating
Oh, I see! Sorry, my bad. I misunderstood you there. 👋
No worries! I can see what you meant. ☮️
I think I'll call my (MAGA) congressman's office every time I need to put gas in the car, and ask where I can find this $1.99/gal gas that Pedo47 is always lying about.
Had no idea there is an app for this.
Ohh, ohh, ohh, I know the answer -> "TOO MUCH"
The Consumer Price Index for food-at-home was 2.4% higher in June 2025 than in June 2024. Promises made, promises broken. Per usual
this.
Is Mark Cuban afraid to directly take on trump?
Yes, but for most Americans they don't need a chart like this. Since for most Americans all they really care about is how much something costs them, not what they are being told about inflation.
Look closer, these are prices, not the rate of change of prices
Doesnt affect my point.
I thought you were pointing out the nuance between price levels and inflation and how IRL it is the price levels that matter. People were confused that low inflation doesn't mean prices decreased. Not "Americans don't do data, only price on shelf matter." Is this your point?
My point is that people dont care what you tell them about how much things have increased. Because they see how much things have increased.
That's fair, they go on vibes or anchor to what they remember (even if false) rather than actual data. That's why they keep ranking GOP better for economy, though they keep crashing it.
The perception that the GOP is better can be painted by numbers. But when it comes to affordability, numbers dont matter. That being said, people may choose to ignore that for whatever the reason. But generally, if things are not affordable in 2026, the GOP will be in deep doo doo
Our Republic may depend on a brief but profound moment of Stagflation.
Same.
Trump claimed the average price of gas had fallen (in several cities) to around $2, but *for now* we have the data showing it hovering above $3. I guess people should get him to name at least 1 city which validates his claims.
Graph link, in case people want to check my work: fred.stlouisfed.org/series/APU00...
I was also curious about the impact of Brazilian tariffs on beef, although I'm guessing it's too soon. Still, if people complained about eggs, how will they complain about the fast-food burger costs? If people complain loudly, especially in social/mainstream media, maybe Trump Admin will back off.
If food is a key to happiness and contentment...
Until the fukwad cancels it.
More Winning Today! We beat the projected date to hit $37T in 2030 by five years. WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. government’s gross national debt has surpassed $37 trillion, a record number that highlights the accelerating debt on America’s balance sheet and increased cost pressures on taxpayers.

Thanks for the info.👍
Soon to be dismantled and blocked by Trump & Co.
Ya ya ,who cares ,,use your power, money, influence to help topple this corrupt administration, cuz nothing else really matters
Have you contributed any of that tax cut to NPR/PBS yet?
Another example AI in medicine FAILURE www.facebook.com/share/r/1KRL...
You've been quiet about what's happening at the Texas capitol. Any thoughts you'd like to share?
Trump will soon cook the Feds books Mark. You know this, right?
This will disappear as soon as it shows process going up.
Or we could go to one of those stores that sell things called "groceries", and buy them. Then we would know what they "really" cost.
For now....
we may never know the true figures if trump gets his way of counting things.
Not really. FRED pulls from #BLS among other government databases that now have an entire quarter to fudge the numbers.
Just another tool for billionaire Mark to remind us of how poor we are while he is not affected whatsoever by the price of lunch meat!
Why choose Romaine for a BLT? Most people prefer iceberg or possibly green leaf for that use.
I won’t believe any information coming from this regime
Yes, agreed! The fact that Mark 'Cuban' is re-publishing it is also a clue that it should not be trusted!
Ugh. Exhausting.
I know, it is a lot of lies! Gotta keep calling it out tho.
This is great until Trump replaces the publishers with people who say everything costs one ruble.
Not for long...
If this is federal gov issue I can no longer trust it.
As a billionaire who supports more tax cuts for billionaires, it's impossible to take your concern for the rest of us seriously. The stats speak volumes. Giving billionaires & their corporations huge tax cuts in Trump's previous administrative did not trickle down to consumers or employees. #maga
Please forgive by typo!
It would be, if the Federal Government agencies were trusted to post actual data. And I agree, it's very informative, But can you really trust the data ?
My unscientific survey - all the individual groceries we by at Target are up at least a dollar this summer (unless on sale). It adds up quickly. #MAGAnomics
Then, for the record for Republicans who seem to ignorantly believe anything a felon Presidents says, you cant compare Dec Biden to anything but Dec Trump. Food because lettuce and tomatoes are cheaper during growing seasons.
Marc is a billionaire who needs to check grocery prices in a chart to know if "groc er ries" are more or less expensive. Americans who are working middle class and lower income know it at time of check out.
Nice graph, but doesn't really answer the pertinent questions - how are we doing compared to previous years. All those things have natural price cycles that may be at play comparing month to month.
What did the Dallas Mavericks cost? Can we afford that?
Do it quickly though. Fred’s a powerful and successful but old program which will undoubtedly “need upgrading” by Musk or Thiel.
Hey, billionaire. Please rent out a building and put these people up. Put them up in hotels. So something. Do more than chat shit about what you think democrats are doing wrong. Make your money work for good. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

Beef, Coffee, Cheese stand out. Notable upward trajectory Jan this year +.
Yes king
Is there an amazing resource to see how many people your wealth could feed, clothe and shelter?
Cool! And the numbers I just looked at say the data is from US Bureau of Labor statistics. So if you don't like what you see just decide it's wrong and wait for someone else to work there. Easy fix!
It won't matter if you rich guys don't take your subsidies away from Trump. www.rawstory.com/trump-guns-n...
Thank you for posting this.
I can't find anything on that link that a accounts for inflation. Eggs in 1981 were .89 which is the equivalent of 3.15 today
Follow me on substack! I put all the data at your fingertips!
Especially when the government is telling us the prices are down.
It is. FWIW the source data for retail food and energy prices can also be viewed here and downloaded or displayed in a basic chart (the FRED charts are larger and much better). www.bls.gov/regions/mid-...
This information is why he set up a useless trip to Alaska (WH keeps lowering expectations) the appointment of Stephen Moore to BLS and taking over DC law enforcement in an attempt to take the ace(Epstein files) off the table of his Three Card Monte game he plays on the American public.
Gee, what is the cost of golfing? Wouldn’t it be something if someone knew how to infect a golf course with grubs or some other type of critter? Asking for a friend.
Hey Mr. Billionaire, I have bad teeth and no money. Can you buy me some dentures so that I can smile bigger while the wealthy elite screw me from behind? CashApp: $ValerieCrew
dude i thought you died of embarrassment after asking us to give you more money
Bacon in Harrison Arkansas is $15.99 lb
What are you DOING to leverage your wealth and power to help the poor?
Fascism is expensive. How many homeless people have you fed and housed?
Does it also compare prices in cities around the world? For example, in Brazil, consumer pricing is frequently much lower than in the US.
Quick, now do from 2010 to 2025. Bacon $3.75 2010 $7.25 2025 Up 90% Union Carpenter Hourly wage $22/hr 2010 $28/hr 2024 Up 28% 🤔
For now. If it's unflattering to the administration's policies, they'll stop updating it or simply falsify it.
Too much. I don’t even have to look.
Who can trust government data these days
Somehow, our ass-kissing mass media stop covering increasing food prices.
Where's the bread, FRED? Come'on!

So eat tomatoes, got it.
