I think that AI use in minors should be restricted. Wasn't there a minor that committed suicide over their AI girlfriend? Companies should require logins for any social interactions.

I just did a straw poll of 4 random teenagers (my son + some friends) and they all thought that was crazy. 74% is unrealistic. I’m not saying it’s not a problem, bc it is, but using numbers that are unbelievable dilutes the message.

A younger person was telling me about it recently. They thought it was really cool that you could create a AI friend that was complimentary and chatted with you. I was actually alarmed by it. They suggested I get an AI friend. Hell will freeze over and thaw 20 times before I do that.

My almost 15 yr old son does not do this. He’s on the football team, has a solid relationship with me, his pets and friends he knows personally (in the neighborhood and on video games). This is all about parenting. And, parents can’t do a good job without a village.

and "one third were made uncomfortable by the bot" is possibly a sign of something inappropriate in terms of sexuality or violence, but it's also quite possible that they're just saying it sounded weird or uncanny or whatever.

AI in general is dodgy because it can only talk like its programmer. "I'm perfect! Are you?" &c (ref ELP Karn Evil 9) but this may be a blessing in disguise: teach them not to pussyfoot around so-called politically incorrect ideas and expressions. younger folks might want to toughen up.
