4/ Unsurprisingly, Japan immediately confirmed there is no 90/10 deal and no formal deal at all. AND if there ever is one, then just like any other investment deal, the U.S. and Japan will split returns based on each country's contributions.

5/ Further, Trump's 70 minute negotiation was with a desperate lame duck Japanese government that just lost control of the parliament. It's not even clear Prime Minister Ishiba will be around the write the text of the agreement that doesn't exist.
6/ It could be that parts of the deal Trump "announced" eventually become formalized. But his big win for the U.S. - a $550 billion Japanese "signing bonus" to America - looks like fiction. Trump just made it up. But he got big headlines and Japan's denial got no headlines.
The only "deals" are new taxes for consumers.
And because the media reported only the supposed agreement, and, for the most part, not Japan's denial, the MAGA base is stoked about their dear leader's business acumen, once again thinking he knows "the art of the deal."
I did hear about the denial of the trade deal from Japan but it was a blip on the screen
Was that WaPo and NYT or headlines in the NY Post and Fox? Who is dropping the ball? All of them?
Yep. The only good thing is that the numbers aren't even believable. If he said there would be $10bn or $20bn of investment, I doubt anyone would have even checked. That's still impressive. But no. $550bn:
Also important to note that the U.S. budget cannot be augmented by foreign gov't contributions without explicit congressional authorization. Our constitutional design ensures the budget remains under domestic democratic control & protects against foreign influence or dependency.
The only trade deal under a Donald presidency is the USMCA agreement which was voted on by Congress, ratified and signed into law on January 29, 2020 and then officially went into effect on July 1, 2020. There are no other legally binding trade “deals” by Donald, (other than in his scrambled mind).
Media, get this straight.
Well let’s make it news! I had my doubts Japan would agree to anything with this man! Japanese doesn’t need us!
I guess a deal is anything you want to say. A real trade agreement has to be accepted and signed by the legislatures of both countries. Will be interesting to see what happens with this "EU" deal... it's a long way from being signed.
Same with the Euro deal. It’s mainly higher prices creating a hidden VAT. Same with the no taxes on tips and overtime. It’s basically a capped deduction.
oh fart now maga's gonna start shitting with japan's elections
Also, Trump stated on TV that he would be reducing drug prices 1600% and 600% and 500%... This MADNESS MUST END!
It’s a sham. 15% tariffs is a deal what malarkey
It's official, I endorse my followers to vote for Chris Murphy if they're in CT
