I'm not autistic. My partner is. She would have asked me to explain too 🙂 Politicians will generally try and 'target' others. But the 'others' have to simply categorised (and in the press). Autism is very visible recently, and it is a different but relatively short word, migrants is another good ..

Neurodivergent people think in a way that means we aren’t easily swayed or controlled. We don’t care about hierarchy or extrinsic motivators, we have a strong sense of justice, and we tend to tell the truth even if it’s inconvenient. We are a huge risk to anyone living on smoke and mirrors.

I think politicians these days feel threatened by anyone 'not like them'. Probably it's their own ignorance & prejudice. Those who have had proper jobs in real work places may be less ignorant than the career politicians, but not always.
