This is true Old buildings are nice to have but if they serve no purpose then they are just holes to poor money in to.

I think its government policy now. Millions to keep old railway stations and belltowers in good nick, but fire anyone who could operate them.

Which reminds me: many years ago I was guest at a hangi in Rotorua. (Hāngī (Māori: [ˈhaːŋiː]) the traditional Māori method of cooking food using heated rocks buried in a pit oven.) On this occasion, with typical Māori ingenuity and improvisation the heat came from stolen NZ Railways brake blocks.
