Katie Wilson for Seattle @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social

Seattleites love their summers, but it’s a little more complicated for parents. What if we had universal summer care for all children in Seattle? This isn’t a pie in the sky idea. We can make Seattle a great place for working families.

Year round schools are a good way to mitigate this (and brain drain) but there’s still massive breaks on that schedule (that don’t align with camp schedules which are all more traditionally scheduled in the summer). This is such a good idea. Just so good.

Ought to be year-round, not merely summers.

Love this, and the community center programs are great! The way they currently are, they take kids on field trips, do crafts, and have fun themes. They should be available more widely for everyone!

Seattle: Katie Wilson, the progressive challenger to business-backed Mayor Bruce Harrell, is talking about the REAL challenges we face, like finding childcare for our kids during summer schl break. Wilson got a majority of votes in the Primary and can win! Pls contribute: www.wilsonforseattle.com

Hello, I’m: Trying My Best @modernminstrel.bsky.social

It is so incredibly expensive to be a parent in this city each summer. Camps and daycare are expensive and most of the daycares available for older elementary kids will leave them bored out of their minds. We can do better.
