Born in Brooklyn to Haitian and Puerto Rican parents, Basquiat often made references to ancient Egypt in his work. 2 books that influenced him are: "Flash of the Spirit" by Robert Farris Thompson and "Symbol Sourcebook" by Henry Dreyfuss Kings of Egypt II, 1982 JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT (1960-1988)

Each of his works is so rich with ideas to think with, so I could see why you would be inspired.

The fact he continues to inspire in a relevant, "now" way says a lot. This isn't nostalgia or rinsing a brand, it's tapping into the artistic energy.
