Earlier today, someone mentioned that they had never heard of Beloved. Not never read it, but never heard of it. Any other country, it would be required. Aside from the fact that Morrison won a Pulitzer Prize for it, she depicted the terror & cruelty of slavery via a real person— Margaret Garner.
